Insight Global Measurement Analyst in Birmingham, Alabama

Job Description

An oil & gas company in the Birmingham area is looking for a Measurement Analyst to join their team.

The Measurement Analyst performs a variety of critical tasks that will support the goals and initiatives of the Measurement Department and the corporation. The Measurement Analyst works with upstream and downstream business groups to ensure an accurate, complete, and timely transfer of required measurement related information to downstream systems and customers. The Measurement Analyst works to identify and resolve problems and inaccuracies in measurement information that have a financial impact on the organization. They will be working through the measurement data systems they have. They will be analyzing volume metric data. The client has pipelines everywhere, but this team supports the Southern Pipelines (southeastern part of the US). There are 1200 meters that flow into the system on an hourly basis with data. The system scrubs the data, tags things that fall outside of certain parameters. It is analyzing things related to the volume going in and out of the pipeline system. They feed into local distribution companies and corporations. They clean the data and make sure it is accurate. Their main internal customers are the accounting group.

Utilize developed skills and knowledge to analyze measurement data, identify measurement data inaccuracies, and work with others to interpret and resolve such inaccuracies

Participate in the investigation and reconciliation of measurement discrepancies, measurement data issues including the investigation of lost and unaccounted for (L&U) gas and liquid on company owned assets

Perform data analysis/audits of physical measured points on Kinder Morgan assets.

Analyze measurement data for completeness, identify trends, discrepancies, and other anomalies using historical trends and knowledge of other operational considerations.

Research root causes and work with other resources to resolve measurement problems.

Utilize the measurement system to analyze and adjust measurement corrections as required.

Analyze and review measurement data/graphs, trends, values to identify potential measurement inaccuracies.

Review, verify, and resolve discrepancies on field meter calibration inspection reports.

Acquire proficient knowledge of various meters, RTUs, calculations, etc., used in the volume determination process.

Recognize and help to resolve missing data issues that occur in the transfer of data from the metering device into the downstream measurement and accounting systems.

Retain accurate and complete documentation for measurement data edits and adjustments per department policies and procedures.

Manage measurement information from third party companies.

Understand and follow volume adjustment guidelines set forth in the pipeline tariffs, general terms & conditions, operating agreements, contracts, and department procedures.

Analyze measurement comparison reports and investigate discrepancies outside of defined tolerances.

Complete and/or assist with point requests and point setup in measurement and accounting systems.

Provide timely response to measurement data inquiries, data reports per requests from internal and external customers.

Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of applicable industry related standards and guidelines regarding the measurement of natural gas and liquid products (AGA, GPA, SOX, NAESB, BLM, etc.)

Acquire an understanding of the corporations primary business models including the business functions of gathering, transporting, and processing of natural gas and liquids.

Work with Measurement Manager and/or Supervisor to develop project plans, set goals, tactics, and timelines.

Provide backup support for other team members as needed.

Routinely produce various reports, summaries, and memos.

Communicate effectively (written and orally) with team members and internal/external customers.

Ensure personal conformity and support team decisions, departmental policies and procedures, and all mandated industry standards.

Participate in special projects and assignments as delegated by management.

Place priority on safety by attending safety meetings, acquiring knowledge of safety guidelines/goals, and working to ensure department and corporate safety guidelines are followed.

Skills and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Analytical mindset / skills (capability to comprehend technical concepts

Previous experience in a related field/industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Measurement experience preferred, particularly in the areas of data collection, data editing, data analysis and system balancing and lost and unaccounted for investigation.

Intermediate to advance proficiency levels for Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)

Well-developed math skills including the ability to understand and apply mathematical equations, formulas, fractions, percentages, etc.

Proficient in applicable software related systems/tools required to perform specific job functions including applicable Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) Volume Analytic experience
