Community Health Systems HIM Tech (Non-cert) in Birmingham, Alabama

Job Summary

The Health Information Management Tech is responsible for support functions for the Health Information Management (HIM) department, including but not limited to daily pick up and reconciliation of discharged encounters, prepping/scanning of facility medical records. This role assists with other tasks as assigned by HIM leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates competencies in performance of HIM Tech duties including collecting, prepping and scanning of medical record documents for permanent storage in the electronic medical record.

  • Completes daily chart reconciliation process including following up on any missing charts and escalating to HIM leadership as necessary.

  • Maintains Trigger Queues/Scan Reconciliation within 24 hours

  • Monitors other EMR queues on a daily basis as assigned by HIM leadership

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required

  • 0-1 years Medical Record processing required

  • 1-2 years Medical Record processing preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Information systems and healthcare applications

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

  • Medical terminology and knowledge of medical record documents

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
