The Cigna Group Business Analytics Senior Advisor - Evernorth Health Services - Remote in Birmingham, Alabama

Position Summary:

The Clinical and Affordability Analytics team’s mission is to improve customer value and affordability across Cigna Medicare. We accomplish this through data-informed analytics, strategic insights, and cross-departmental collaboration with our Cigna matrix partners. The team operates in a highly dynamic environment, partnering across business areas and on a wide variety of Medicare Advantage Total Cost of Care (TCC) reduction initiatives.

Reporting to the Affordability Analytics Senior Manager, the Business Analytics Senior Advisor will work in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with initiative owners, other analytics teams, and subject matter experts to move initiatives through multiple stages of the affordability lifecycle.

The Senior Advisor will use healthcare claims and enrollment data, clinical outcomes data, and financial data on a regular basis to execute on this role’s main responsibilities. This person will primarily use SQL or another program of choice in conjunction with Excel to share insights with stakeholders on a regular basis. Additional monthly leadership reports, used to communicate the status of affordability initiatives within business areas and across the enterprise, will be developed through Tableau, Adobe Express, Figma, or similar programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculating the expected savings for an initiative through a detailed understanding of the initiative scope, using SQL or another program of choice, to understand the current financial landscape

  • Presenting expected outcomes for initiatives to a large audience with mixed technical backgrounds, to support the implementation of and investment in new affordability initiatives

  • Standardizing the expected savings in financial documents that will be used by multiple areas of the business, including finance and actuary teams

  • Developing code, using SQL or another program of choice, to measure the performance of initiatives that have been implemented

  • Using the performance measurement insights to identify opportunities to close any gaps between expected and actual savings, and communicating these recommendations to non-technical leaders to gain buy-in and achieve financial targets

  • Conveying a cohesive affordability “story” to leadership at both the initiative- and enterprise-level

  • Evaluating multiple years of performance for initiatives to support the identification of new affordability opportunities for the enterprise

  • Managing multiple affordability initiatives at various stages of the affordability lifecycle

  • Clearly documenting processes and procedures in reports, code, and notes for personal and internal team coordination, repeatability, and consistency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Health Information Management, Management Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or related technical field

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 5 years of healthcare-related data/analytics experience, solving business problems with various analytical approaches

  • Proficient in SQL/Teradata coding language and query design

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Robust experience working with large datasets (medical claims, pharmacy claims, clinical data, etc.)

  • Ability to collaborate and problem solve with all levels and technical backgrounds

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills

  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred

Our ideal candidate would live near Nashville, TN, Birmingham AL or Houston, TX and work in one of our offices 3 days a week - however we are considering all qualified candidates within the USA.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 109,100 - 181,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
