About the Opportunity

Technology, Consulting, and Innovation (TC&I)

Our business is responsible for the largest independent nuclear laboratories in the UK, delivering projects from consultancy, assurance and regulation, through to test rigs and prototypes.

Our Engineering Development (ED) business delivers client-focused technological solutions to the most complex engineering challenges. Our breadth of capability, coupled with our facilities, enables us to bring the latest thinking and technology to market. We act as the integrator for these technologies; optimising solutions and ensuring that they can be deployed in challenging environments, while our core capabilities focus on experimental rig design and build, testing, robotics and remote operations.

As a Designer, you will contribute to delivering safe, functional, and innovative design solutions for complex engineering challenges. Your work will support the successful execution of major projects in regulated industries. As part of the Design Team, you will work on design deliverables that ensure the safety, functionality, and compliance of various engineering projects. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to produce technical drawings and specifications that meet project goals.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Translating concepts into visual models (e.g., 2D/3D drawings).

  • Ensuring designs comply with industry standards and client specifications.

  • Participating in design reviews and contributing to the aesthetic and functional aspects of the project.

  • Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Inventor, Revit, and other software.

  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outputs.

  • Attending occasional site visits to gather information for design development.

  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to gather requirements and ensure successful delivery.

  • We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experiences:

  • Qualification to HNC/HND standard in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Proficiency in Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, Inventor, and 3D systems.

  • Familiarity with UK regulations, including LOLER and CDM.

  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Inventor, Revit, and BIM methodologies.

  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of technical design standards.

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
