Job Opening:Refills and Prior Authorizations Coordinator
Work Location: 1179 Vestal Avenue, Suite 2, Binghamton, NY
Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 6:00pm. Saturdays on a rotating basis 10:00am to 2:00pm.

As Refills and Prior Authorization Coordinator you will be accountable for enabling healthy lives for our customers by requesting and obtaining prescription refills and prior authorizations for the long term care pharmacy patients. Upon receipt the coordinator updates the pharmacy records. Customers can count on you as a knowledgeable, courteous and helpful point of contact for their pharmacy care. Typical responsibilities associated with this position are:
Contact patients and healthcare providers to obtain new prescriptions for medications that have exhausted the available number of refills
Contact healthcare providers and insurance carriers to gather information and respond to prior authorization requests
Read and review prescriptions; enter prescription data into the pharmacy filling system
- Interpret medical abbreviations
Troubleshoot orders to obtain missing information or clarification
Record communication concerning orders within patient records
Maintain electronic documentation related to orders within patient profiles
Provide customer service to callers regarding orders
Previous work experience in pharmacy setting required, experience with order entry preferred
Active Pharmacy Technician Certification or postsecondary education in pharmacy technician program preferred
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and handle other computer components
Ability to utilize QS1 pharmacy software for long term care
Ability to read and decipher written medical documents with speed and accuracy
Salary Description
$16 to $18 per hour
