Binghamton University NYS Master Teacher Program Regional Director in Binghamton, New York

Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: $80,000

The chief responsibility of the Regional Director is to develop and implement the New York State Master Teacher Program (NYSMTP) for their region/cohort, integrating the activities with the SUNY campus as is possible and appropriate.

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts and assist with the selection process.

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate professional learning program for Master Teachers or Master Counselors and, as applicable, for joint Teacher-Counselor professional learning opportunities.

  • Integrate the NYSMTP with the SUNY campus or wider SUNY initiatives and programs.

  • Communicate regularly with Central office based at System Administration, including but not limited to the Executive Director, Assistant Directors, and Program Coordinator.

  • Manage regional budget for the NYSMTP according to NYS & SUNY protocols, and NYSMTP Program Implementation guidelines.

  • Represent SUNY and/or the NYSMTP at state-wide events and conferences related to support and fulfillment of the major duty areas above.

  • Participate in regular Regional Director calls (monthly and/or as scheduled) & attend periodic Regional Director meetings and Summer Conference.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors' degree

  • Experience in K-12 education, either as a teacher, administrator or other professional within an organization that focuses on K-12 education OR Experience in higher education STEM content research and teaching or educator preparation for K-12/STEM

  • At least three years of professional experience in the field of education or other non-profit

  • Strong writing skills and outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Highly skilled in driving to results through planning and execution, critical thinking, problem solving, and effective decision-making processes for multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong work ethic, energy level, and creativity that translate into enthusiasm for the successful accomplishment of program goals

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree

  • Experience supporting teacher professional development either by program design or direct facilitation of professional learning opportunities

  • Passion for STEM education and the support and respect of outstanding STEM teachers

  • Fluidity with Microsoft Suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and others
