The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is an organization that represents all Binghamton University graduate students. GSO plays a vital role in representing and advocating for the interests of graduate students at the university. As an organization run by and for graduate students, the GSO works to enhance the academic, professional, and social experiences of its members. The Administrative Coordinator of GSO will work with the Executive Board members with the goal of accelerating the GSO services. The Administrative Coordinator will mentor and train the incoming Board members and maintain an easy transition of the GSO services. Key duties would involve analyzing and providing quarterly reports for the GSO services, Training and onboarding new executive board members and business managers. The Administrative Coordinator would be responsible for maintaining the GSO office and taking the minutes of all the GSO meetings.

This role requires a strong individual who has excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to provide innovative and creative direction, and has a passion for developing and impacting people. Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, leadership, decision-making and customer service skills are essential, as well as the ability to work individually and in a team setting. The ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff is required.

Essential Duties:

  • Analyze and provide quarterly reports

  • Mentor and train new executive board members

  • Manage the GSO office operation.

  • Compile weekly organizational newsletters

  • Update GSO website and social media accounts

  • Assist with meeting agendas and minutes.

  • Prepare and process vouchers as needed

  • Assist the treasurer with budget preparation, insurance review and audit preparation

  • Perform any other duties assigned

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of professional office related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, knowledge of business management principles, budget formulation and financial management.

  • The ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents and organizations is required.

  • Strong administrative skills to include experience with the Microsoft suite, Google email and calendar knowledge as well as video conferencing platform proficiency.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure by handling multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be detail oriented as well as have excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cash handling and reconciliation processes are preferred.

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $42,000 - $45,000 annually (1.0 FTE). Note: This will be a part time position with the incumbent expected to work at least 25 hours a week. The annual salary will be prorated based on the agreed upon final schedule.
