Core Responsibilities
As a senior 3D artist, you lead a small, flexible production team, driving high-quality, sustainable product delivery. You will ensure that the team collaborates efficiently and works cohesively, maintaining a high standard of excellence. Additionally, you will demonstrate adaptability and agility, as you navigate a dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly, requiring proactivity and responsiveness to changes.
Moreover, this role entails:
Delivering heavily optimized hard surface and organic LEGO® bricks using Maya, as well as creating normal and alpha maps for game engines and various game platforms.
You understand where to put polygons in order to ensure the best possible quality with a limited polygonal budget and can share the knowledge with the rest of the team.
You have the ability to investigate new workflows, and to challenge and optimise existing ones
Understanding of utilizing shared maps on multiple assets with similar details.
Responsibility of QA of both your own and the team’s work.
Accountability of the product quality delivered as well as for giving team feedback and guidance on quality and delivery.
Involvement in conversations with our tool developers by providing requirements and feedback needed for to keep our tools up to date and useful in deliveries.
Participate in alignment meetings and dialogues between the team and collaborators.
Strong communication skills and the ability speak up and to give and receive constructive feedback.
Actively promoting a continuous improvement culture in our team and ways of working.

The department of Virtual Asset Design is responsible for delivering 2D, 3D and animated digital elements and assets. We support The LEGO Group by modeling, texturing and simplifying assets for LEGO Building Instructions, packaging, marketing, digital games and various other digital media and pipelines. This includes high fidelity rendering as well as games and other real-time experiences.
You will be part of a small team that is focused on optimizing LEGO® Bricks for game production. The team provides optimized meshes mainly targeted at lower end platforms where complexity of LEGO® Bricks can be a challenge. Your effort will be directly linked to millions of end users having a better gaming experience.
Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate brings several years of relevant industry experience. Specifically, we are looking for the following expertise:
Experience with Unreal Engine. Unity experiences a plus.
Experience with Autodesk Maya is key, being skilled in modeling, retopology and UVing. Other software knowledge is appreciated.
Experience with creating assets for mobile and Switch is an extensive plus.
Strong knowledge of low polygon workflows.
Ability to ensure visual consistency across LODs by maintaining edge flow, silhouette integrity, and detail across each level.
Understanding normal and alpha mapping techniques.
Knowledge of atlas and trim sheet workflows.
Experienced in using Adobe Substance 3D Painter or similar texturing software.
