Briggs Distributing Company Fine Wine Sales Manager in Billings, Montana

Briggs Distributing is hiring a Fine Wine Manager to lead a team of Sales Representatives to achieve our premium wine sales goals through communication, training, and education. This role requires expertise in fine wines, strong communication skills, and the ability to cultivate relationships with fine wine suppliers and customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Sales Management:Execute and achieve all sales and distribution goals; monitor service levels and call frequency; make recommendations for revenue growth and cost-effective changes.Perform monthly market surveys to ensure that our brands are represented to company standards and to monitor competitors’ activities; evaluate product line monthly and make recommendations.Develop, monitor, and recommend company/supplier-supported sales PFP’s to the wine sales manager.Develop and implement strategic wine sales plans to meet company goals.Deliver wine sale presentations to key customers in coordination with sales reps.Meet with key customers and assist sales reps with maintaining relationships and closing sales.Prepare weekly sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of opportunity in existing accounts.Attend and actively participate in all sales meetings.Represent Briggs at wine tasting events and special events as assigned by wine sales manager.Schedule and conduct customer staff training.Work closely with sales team and printshop to re-write and design wine lists.Administer and work with suppliers on fine wine allocations.Adhere to sample development and budget with wine sales manager.Supervisory and Team Development: Effectively assist in interviewing, hiring, and developing staff. Train sales staff and work directly with staff on a weekly basis.Plan, assign tasks, and direct work of sales team. Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.Appraise performance and reward employees appropriately. Address complaints and resolve personnel problems. Maintain harmony and unity among staff.Take necessary corrective action in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.Operations:Attend weekly forecast meetings and bring pertinent sales information.Develop, present, maintain, update, and distribute fine wine training programs and initiatives company wide. Professionalism:Exhibit sound leadership skills and abilities. Establish and maintain effective working relationships.Display effective interpersonal communication with suppliers, employees, and customers.Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in all areas of responsibility.Demonstrate sound judgment, decision making, accountability and problem-solving skills.Adhere to all Company and supplier procedures and policies; andAdhere to Federal, state, and local regulations regarding the sales and merchandising of products.Qualifications:Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Five (5) or more years of professional experience in the wine/beverage industry (specifically selling), or closely related areas.Three (3) or more years in a supervisory, administrative, or management capacity.Society of Wine Educators certification as a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), or Certified Wine Educator (CWE) preferred.Knowledge High standard of academic wine industry and product knowledge.Ability to communicate effectively, write reports, business correspondence, and presentations.Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, delegating responsibilities, monitoring administrative activities, and evaluating the performance of staff and contracted vendors.Ability to make administrative decisions in a variety of management areas including fiscal, personnel, procurement, and facility operations.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, other governmental agencies, and the public.
