CITY OF BILLINGS EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCH SUPERVISOR in BILLINGS, Montana

The City of Billings is seeking an Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor to supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing emergency dispatch services within the Communications Center; to develop and coordinate employee training programs; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Salary: $30.8695 per hour. Salary reflects Step 2 of a 7-step pay scale Work Schedule: This is a 24/7/365 operation. This is a shift work position and the successful applicant will work a 24-hour shift, days of work to be determined. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Recruiting, interviewing and hiring process. - Plan, prioritize, provide work assignments, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing emergency dispatch services within the Communications Center. - Participate in the selection of assigned staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline, grievance, and conflict resolution procedures. - Develop, organize, coordinate, and conduct a comprehensive training program for Communications Center staff; develop and implement testing, certification, and promotion procedures. - Supervise the use and operation of emergency services equipment including the Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD), EMD, EPD, and EFD Protocols, PRO-QA, radio systems, phone systems and public notification systems. - Maintain a variety of records, logs, and files; prepare various reports on operations and activities. - Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing emergency dispatch services; implement policies and procedures. - Respond to and resolve inquiries and complaints; maintain effective and efficient public relations when dealing with citizens and other agencies. - Operate telephones, switchboards, radio transmitters and receivers, and other communications equipment and devices; perform minor maintenance or adjustments on equipment. - Assist in computer aided dispatch development, facilitation, and training. - Assist in EMD, EPD, and EFD Protocol facilitation and training. - Attend and participate in meetings, training and information sessions; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of communications technology and emergency dispatch services. - Coordinate assigned services and activities with those of other divisions, outside agencies and organizations. - Participate in the preparation and administration of the assigned budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures. Required Qualifications and Skills: - Specialized training beyond high school. - Four (4) or more years of combined education and experience in areas of personnel management and emergency response dispatch. - Working knowledge of technology used in emergency service. - Experience with city government and knowledge of department and function operations. - Strong interpersonal skills.
