Briggs Distributing Company Delivery Driver in Billings, Montana
Job Summary:This position drives a truck with at least 26,0000 GVW over an established route to deliver draft and package beer, wine, and non-alcoholic products in an assigned geographic area; unloads truck; collects payment and related inventory; maintains records of deliveries and payments; and serves as customer liaison by performing the duties listed below. Requires a valid Class A Commercial Drivers’ License.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.•Completes daily morning check-out procedures, including DOT log completion when necessary.•Performs daily visual inspection of vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.•Organizes route and paperwork for neatness and appropriate time management of work load.•Drives truck to transport product to customer's location; unloads and disperses product to customers’ storage areas; properly stores product.•Rotates product to ensure freshness, and pulling close-dated product.•Ensures timely and accurate deliveries of product to customers.•Completes paperwork by obtaining necessary signatures for delivered products and verifies the order to amount delivered.•Collects payments and makes adjustments for returned product.•Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.•Handles product properly to minimize breakage; processes breakage and appropriate write-off documentation when needed.•Completes check-in procedures, including balancing cash and checks received to invoices; P&E’s; and credits.•Checks in product and properly stores close-dated items.•Demonstrates excellent customer service skills; establishes and maintains effective customer relations; resolves service complaints.•Adheres to all appropriate federal, state, and local regulations regarding the sale and merchandising of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.•Carries out the Company Mission Statement in all job activities and customer relations.•Cleans vehicle; performs routine maintenance on truck; and maintains regular written inspections.•Operates other equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, wheelers and other small tools in a safe and prudent manner; immediately reports maintenance requirements to supervisor; completes regular written inspections of motorized equipment.•Builds displays and marks products when necessary.•Attends and participates in Company meetings and training sessions.•Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following:CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS:•Requires a valid Class A Type 2 Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL)•Requires a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.•Requires a current forklift certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.•Must have clean driving and safety records.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:•Position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The work environment and physical demands described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:•Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; stand, walk and sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.•Must regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.•Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.•The ability to adjust focus, and close vision as well as distance, peripheral and depth perception vision are required by this job.WORK ENVIRONMENT:•Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts•Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.•Occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places.•The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
