We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer. This role will provide design and engineering leadership for Nuvera’s world-class PEM fuel cell stacks. Lead multifunctional teams to design, verify, and release to production, products based on our core stack technologies. Mentor engineers and designers. Serve as primary technical contact for team for answers and direction.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Product Development
New fuel cell stack products and product improvements are successfully developed, verified, and released to production.
Product Development Process is diligently followed and documented.
Products meet or exceed requirements including efficiency, cost, reliability, durability, and manufacturability.
Engineering analyses are well documented including, but not limited to, structural (static, vibration, shock), fluid, thermal, chemical, material, and electrical.
Products align with customer and business needs.
Leadership
Engineers, designers, and technicians are effectively coordinated to deliver technical projects on time and within cost targets.
Effective cross-functional leadership (internal & external) results in product designs and documentation that are complete and accurate.
Clear written summaries and presentations are provided to technical team and management.
Represents the work unit as the primary technical contact.
Engineers are mentored and coached to develop skills that advance company goals and careers. Is a role model for others.
Project Management
Technical projects are planned, coordinated, and carried out on time and budget.
Work is done with required quality and documentation.
Required Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted):
Educational Background
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET accredited institution; MSME desirable.
Previous Work Experience
10+ years combined experience in product development, design, and/or testing.
Proven mentorship of junior engineers.
Special Skills, Experience, and Abilities
3D parametric solid modeling (SolidWorks or equivalent)
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Design for manufacturing processes including machining, forming (sheet metal), casting, and welding
Design to meet industry codes and standards.
Technical leadership of engineers and designers
Keen problem-solving acumen
Design verification against documented requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to engage cooperatively with a range of stakeholders
Positive outlook; enthusiasm and commitment; “can-do” attitude
Design and manufacture of electrochemical systems such as fuel cells, electrolyzers, or batteries is strongly desired
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus
Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFA/DFM) techniques is a plus.
Systems Engineering is a plus.
Physical requirements/Work environment
Both office and lab work will be required for the execution of this position’s responsibilities. Lab work may include the use of power and hand tools.
Ability to lift components weighing up to 35 lbs. is required.
Travel Required
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel, including overnight, may be required.
