Aston Carter Purchasing Manager in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Job Title: Purchasing ManagerJob Description

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading the purchasing team and overseeing all procurement activities. This role involves planning and managing the work of buyers, developing strategic supplier partnerships, and ensuring the optimum combination of price, quality, and lead time for all items and services purchased.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee the work of all buyers, both on-site and off-site.

  • Train and develop buyers across multiple locations.

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery, and payment terms with suppliers, as well as cancellation, return, and warranty policies.

  • Establish strategic partnership agreements with key suppliers.

  • Support all purchasing activities including procurement, component issues, and material returns.

  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and competitive pricing.

  • Establish and maintain supplier scorecards to monitor and improve supplier performance.

  • Provide visibility on component order status and receipt to all internal stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Design functions to identify opportunities for product training and technical information sessions.

  • Collaborate with other departments and the Global Director of Supply Chain to identify and implement process improvement opportunities.

  • Follow all safety rules and policies.

  • Travel as required, both domestically and internationally.

  • Play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement-related role.

  • 2 years of managerial or supervisory experience with direct reports.

  • Experience working in an ERP/MRP/APS environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Experience in contract negotiations.

  • Strategic sourcing.

  • Ability to analyze planning information.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication with all levels of company structure.

  • Self-starter, organized, highly adaptive, and flexible.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to learn at a challenging pace and in a changing environment.

  • Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI).

  • Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment and requires overseeing a team of about five buyers/purchasers. The position is fully onsite with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role involves approximately 25% travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00
