Guardian Life Business Intelligence Analyst IV, Group Insurance in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Individuals within the Business Analyst IV role identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs for the Dental and Disability Claims Operations with a focus on improving risk management and operational efficiency. They work closely with BI Consultants, end users, and IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. It is essential that Business Analysts build an understanding of the Disability and Dental organizations at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical business issues and opportunities. They provide insights that are accurate, actionable, and reliable. Business Analysts educate and train business partners and clients to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms (including Tableau) and content for analysis and option exploration.
Business Analysts work with users to understand business questions, priorities, define key performance indicators (KPI), specific data availability and delivery methodology needed to support the right solution for our business partners. They conduct analyses of functional business processes and participate in the development of business cases in the support of process improvement and benefit realization. This includes working with business and development teams to design, and document dashboards, alerts, and reports. This individual is accountable for providing leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation and presentation of findings to all levels of management.
Business Analysts understand how data is turned into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes. They must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and an interest in proactively going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element to create insight. They must work well within a fast-paced team environment.
You will
Work independently (proactively and need driven) on highly complex, cross functional, analytical projects.
Provide analytical subject matter expertise and recommendations to Claims & Service org.
Participate in workstream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI analytics solutions.
Conduct analyses of functional business processes and functional requirements and participates in the development of business cases in the support of process changes and/or IT projects.
Research business problems and creates models that help analyze these business problems.
Provide design support for the development of business intelligence solutions for Dental and Disability Claims working closely with business leaders and technical partners.
Participate in project management estimation process and lean business case development.
Evaluate internal and external customers’ needs and abilities to provide appropriate solutions.
Advise executives on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving claims management and optimization.
Explore the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.
May perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
Develop work plans or reviews other work plan timelines and manages workflows to meet timeframes.
Develop best practices for report deployments.
Recommend quality metrics and ensures quality metrics are documented and tracked.
Align BI technologies with strategic initiatives.
Stay abreast of BI products/tools and of business strategies and direction.
Train users, including executives, to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information correctly.
Identify and provides input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the Enterprise-wide BI systems.
Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to other team members.
You have
Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Finance, Business Management), or specialized training/certification or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of Business Analyst / Business Intelligence Analysis or related technical experience.
Experience within an insurance and/or healthcare organization preferred, specifically within dental and disability analytics related to Claims & Service.
High level of experience with databases, SQL and business intelligence tools (Business Objects, Alteryx).
Strong working knowledge of Claims & Service business function, processes, and transactions.
High level of experience with technology system processes, reporting functions, and methodologies.
Works effectively with associates from across the Group Insurance (Finance, Claims, Valuation, Pricing, Underwriting, and more) and with business and IT partners.
High level of experience with Visual analytics and BI tools (Tableau).
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Location
This is a flexible position requiring 2 days per week in the office, with preference given to candidates within commuting proximity to a Guardian office.
Salary Range
$84,320.00 - $138,522.50
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
