What You Will Do :
We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician. This position will support research projects at the Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias (CARD). The role will provide laboratory support to normalize DNA and RNA concentrations for next-generation sequencing, genotyping, and other studies. The position will also assist in reporting and presenting results and technical troubleshooting. This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD.
Performs routine laboratory procedures to measure DNA/RNA concentrations, normalize DNA/RNA to set standards, and plate for sequencing, genotyping, or other protocols.
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment needed to carry out research studies.
Store and process clinical research samples including human plasma and brain tissue.
Convey and discuss research results with team lab members.
Test new protocols and document results to assist in protocol development.
Work with a variety of routine and specialized laboratory instruments and equipment in the laboratory.
Ensure that all specimens and equipment necessary for experiments are available and in good order.
Ensure that supplies and consumables are ready and on hand as necessary for maximum efficiency in the laboratory.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments, glassware, and equipment.
Monitor and inventory routine laboratory supplies; ensure that supplies are stocked and organized.
Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.
Plans execute and arrange laboratory experiments, new techniques, and procedures; and performs laboratory techniques relating to scientific research.
Analyzes, documents and reports on all procedures performed and produces detailed reports for use by senior staff.
Trains staff in performing routine laboratory tests and procedures.
Provides insights and expertise and recommends new strategies and approaches.

What You Will Need :
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in Laboratory setting.
Have experience in performing a variety of laboratory techniques and procedures including pipetting, using qubit or other tools to measure DNA concentration, and clinical sample handling and storage.
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft office, and/or Outlook
What Would Be Nice To Have :
- Previous experience working the National Institute of Health (NIH) preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $49,800.00-$74,800.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
