Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

Join our team as an Embedded Software Engineer and contribute to the product development process by programming and scripting embedded software applications. You will spend about 70% of your time engaged in embedded software development, primarily using Embedded C++ on a Linux platform. You will also engage in programming with Python or Matlab on Windows and Linux desktop environments for application development, as well as potentially support VHDL coding for FPGA specification and customization. The role involves working closely with hardware during the bring-up and testing phases, requiring familiarity with lab test equipment and hands-on electronics testing and troubleshooting. You will ensure the software code developed is functional and meets the testing requirements. This position plays a crucial role in the development of high-reliability custom electronics for the space industry, focusing on both spaceflight hardware and test and integration hardware.

Top Skills

  • Familiarity with Software Development with C/C++ and/ or Python/ Matlab. Python is preferred. C/C++ is a nice to have.

  • Experience with both Windows and Linux for desktop SW development.

  • Familiar with how microprocessors/ boards communicate with each other and other hardware/ electronics concepts. Experience with some digital hardware protocols like UART, I2C, SPI and others.

  • Ideally would have some hands on benchtop experience with standard electronics tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc but not required. Soldering experience a plus.

  • Ideally will have some experience with spaceflight HW or other high reliability applications (DoD/ Defense, Aerospace, etc) however can look at other industries as well. Ideally have validated/ verified high reliability HW through software scripting and SW.

This is a fully on-site position in Bethesda, Maryland.

Work Environment

This is a crucial hire for new projects starting soon. Interviews will be conducted next week with the aim for the selected candidate to start by 7/29. This role is essential for meeting project milestones and delivering hardware on schedule.
