The primary focus of the position is our Marriott Select Brands – AC, Aloft, Courtyard, Element, Fairfield Inn, Four Points, Moxy, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites & TownePlace Suite hotels.

On a project / tactical level, the successful candidate for this position provides design quality assurance and design management services and manages all aspects of franchised, managed, or corporate projects for renovations. This individual has a passion for hospitality design and is able to inspire internal and external participants to create design solutions that thrill guests and align with brand strategy. CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required

  • Ten or more years’ design progressive experience

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Architecture, Construction Project Management or related design discipline

  • Excellent business acumen.

  • Complex problem-solving skills.

  • Strong background in architecture, interior architecture, and FF&E.

  • Good leadership ability with strategic/enterprise view.

  • All aspects of hospitality design and operations.

  • Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple priorities & resources.

  • Proven ability to build & maintain strong working relationships.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Strong people/project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and work in a team environment.

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Eight or more years’ experience preferably on hospitality projects.

  • Architectural license.

  • Master of Architecture.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Directs design and process (architecture and interior design) on MSB Renovation and Property Improvement Plan Relicensing projects, which include managed, franchised and company-owned hotels, to ensure quality control, brand compliance, cost effectiveness, timeliness, and operational acceptability.

  • Leads the MSB Renovation Interior Design Team, with effort focused on educating, guiding and influencing customers in regard to hotel brand products and services, as well as renovation process.

  • Represents the renovation team, both internally and externally to ensure compliance to renovation standards.

  • Ensures team brand assignments and workload are equally distributed at all times.

  • Oversees complex accounts and influences approach and communication plan with ownership groups.

  • Supports department leaders and functions as backup in their absence.

  • Represent the division/MI, both internally and externally, on projects to senior representatives.

  • Makes presentations to senior leaders and owners to gain their approval of design recommendations and/or owner exceptions.

  • Provides leadership, management direction and guidance to relevant internal and external team members to ensure that they have the necessary information to complete their responsibilities.

  • Represents the company at the highest level as the face of the hotel brand’s at conferences, trade shows.

  • Sells/influences owners/franchisees using MI expertise and knowledge to gain renovation compliance.

  • Acts as liaison and point-of-contact for owners and franchisees to ensure excellent service and problem resolution.

  • Advises and updates owners and franchisees regarding brand design standards and initiatives.

  • Provides day-to-day review of team members’ professional performance and provide input for their improvement and career development.

  • Reviews and guide team members on custom design submittals and drawings to ensure brand design standards are accurately represented.

  • Balances and maintain pipeline of individual renovation projects and ownership accounts.
