Philips Strategic Buyer Manager in Best, Netherlands

We’re seeking an experienced Strategic Buyer Manager with a proven track record in managing high-spend, high-dependency supplier relationships, preferably in industries with complex supply chains (e.g., medical devices, automotive, aerospace....).

In this role, you’ll

Drive strategic supplier management and procurement excellence for critical Image Chain products for Philips medical imaging systems. You’ll coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, acting as the “orchestrator” to deliver impactful results.

This role requires strong leadership, strategic influence, and operational expertise to optimize supplier relationships, enhance performance, and contribute to the success of Philips’ healthcare solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage (and develop long-term) relationships with assigned (preferred strategic) suppliers

  • Identify supplier capabilities, performance, and technologies through competitive assessments and benchmarking of existing and potential suppliers.

  • Lead business review meetings and supplier evaluations for the assigned scope.

  • Influence supplier leadership to align their business practices with Philips business requirements, including engaging with C-level executives

  • Drive supplier operational excellence by influencing leadership teams, aligning business practices, and overseeing structural improvements in quality, supply chain, technology, and cost efficiency.

  • Mitigate risks related to conformity, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Lead price negotiations for assigned supplier portfolio, including gathering relevant benchmark data, supplier market intelligence

  • Own end-of-the-end supplier agreements, including development, execution, and monitoring.

  • Work closely with R&D, Operations, Product Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Finance, Legal etc. to align supplier performance with strategic priorities.

  • Act as the orchestrator for cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless execution of supply chain and procurement strategies.

  • The end-to-end management of a challenging Image Chain product portfolio to enhance our Health Systems offering.

  • In close collaboration with the Business Units, the definition and implementation of the global procurement strategy and policy with a 3–5-year sightline to drive impact for both the bottom and top line

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in a relevant domain (business, procurement, economics, etch)

  • Preferably 8–10+ years in procurement, preferably in industries with complex supply chains (medical devices, automotive, aerospace ...).

  • Experience in a production environment (Medical/FDA and/or EU-MDR regulated preferred)

  • Strong business acumen and a can-do attitude to deliver under high pressure.

  • Proven track record of:

  • driving supplier performance transformations and managing high-spend, high-dependency supplier relationships.

  • Strong negotiation -, stakeholder management – and influencing skills (both at operational and executive levels)

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and management skills to drive category-related strategic objectives from end to end

  • Change leadership skills within a complex, global matrix organization

  • Lead & coordinate cross-functional teams effectively (“being the orchestrator of the team”)

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require a full-time presence in the company’s facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This role is on-site.
