Description:

The Med/Surg Nurse Manager at MacNeal Hospital is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of the medical-surgical nursing unit. This leadership position requires strong clinical expertise, administrative skills, and the ability to inspire and guide nursing staff in providing high-quality, patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager will ensure efficient staffing, budgeting, and compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Key duties include fostering a positive work environment, implementing evidence-based practices, managing patient care delivery, coordinating with other healthcare departments, and supporting professional development of nursing staff. The Nurse Manager will also be responsible for maintaining patient safety, improving patient outcomes, and driving operational excellence within the unit. Lead, supervise, and support a team of registered nurses and support staff in the medical-surgical unit.

Position responsibilities:

  • Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained through consistent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care practices.

  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures in accordance with hospital guidelines.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and outcomes.

  • Manage staffing levels and schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and skill mix.

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and retention of nursing staff.

  • Monitor and manage the budget for the unit, including supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

  • Promote a culture of safety, patient advocacy, and continuous improvement.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement development plans for nursing staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.

  • Current RN license in the State of IL

Pay range: $46.53- $76.78 hr.

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
