The Commodity Management Leader (Procurement Manager) drives a team of Commodity Buyers for Grid Solution's GSI Substation Business. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and leading the sourcing strategy for your assigned team of mechanical and electrical Commodity Buyers (around 10 FTEs). The Commodity Management Leader takes ownership for the performance of suppliers from tendering stage (ITO) to execution (OTR).
She/He addresses supplier specific requirements for the individual commodity while assuring best practices sharing continuous improvement among his team of Commodity Buyers. She/He also supports the existing Sourcing Team for the purchase of electrical installation and civil works scope. Negotiate with dedicated providers according to specific policies. Achieve the best contractual conditions while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
Main Tasks:
Leading a Team of Commodity Buyers for mechanical and electrical equipment.
Define supplier strategy, including management and optimization of supplier panels.
Actively driving the communication towards suppliers to improve pricing, lead times and payment terms.
Prepare and standard RFQ template, negotiate the frame contracts with main suppliers in coordination with the internal stakeholders.
Streamline the onboarding process based on supplier market constraints, make explicit Product Line risk appetite by nature of risks review during onboarding.
Coordinate the assessment of the supplier’s performance, to manage the on-going contracts execution and to influence the strategic positioning for next deals.
Map the supplier market per capabilities, business interest, past performance, geographical area for each segment.
Share market evolutions, key indexes, best practices within the team and across other GE organizations, templates, checklists.
Achieve competitive costs and implement effective costing structure mitigating risks while ensuring the project schedule is met.
Scope and responsibilities may evolve depending on the context and the profile of the candidate.
Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers. Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement. Manage claims. Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities.
Developing specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest functional developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensures delivery within area of responsibility.
Skilled influencer, able to communicate complex messages to others. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within the field.
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside the own function to achieve decisions.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or similar, Master level degree preferred
Expertise in Project Contract Management, or/and Strategic Sourcing
At least 5 years of hands-on working experience in a similar position
Strong oral and written communication skills, both in English & German (C1 level required)
Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to work in a global environment within a matrix company
Hybrid Office Model Accepted (3 days onsite, 2 days HO)
Previous Leadership experience with international teams
