Director of Software Engineering

What does a successful Director of Software Engineering do at Fiserv?

You will be a key leader for the success of our internal application portfolio within the Fiserv Card Services, Financial Institution Group. You team processes billing and invoicing, manages risk rules, end- to-end dispute life cycle management, software automation of on-boarding new clients, and provides add-on offerings for card services in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will drive end-to-end software delivery, lead, manage, mentor, and inspire team of software engineers.

What you will do:

  • Partner with business owners to define platform roadmaps and scope for initiatives and features

  • Drive prioritization of technical investment on in-scope platforms

  • Design performant, efficient, effective, and reusable technical solutions

  • Provide thought leadership across acquiring engineers

  • Partner effectively with DevOps, production support, and peer platform teams

  • Monitor, triage, and mitigate issues in our integration, stage, and production environments

  • Ensure critical operational requirements are designed into all new features

What you will need to have:

  • 12-15 years of experience as software engineering leader and help in the delivery, implementation and adoption

  • 5+ years of recent experience leading teams and hands on experience with large scale applications at large institutions with technologies like Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Spark and cloud technologies: Azure, AWS

  • 5+ years of experience with event-based architecture leading strategy, governance and execution of event-based architecture at large institutions

  • 5+ years of experience with Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Azure Blob Storage, Stream Analytics, Java Netty & Socket programming, producing & consuming REST APIs

  • 5+ years of experience using one or more relational & non-relational NoSQL databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis

  • 5+ years of experience with application security, encryption, automation, deployment and post deployment support for the owned applications

  • 5+ years of practical experience with the end-to-end DevOps CI/CD pipeline including one or more of the following: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Maven, Gitlab, SonarQube

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

What would be great to have:

  • Experience with Azure Cloud, Openshift

  • Experience within financial services industry

  • Experience with analytics and performance monitoring

  • Experience with practicalities of Agile SDLC
