Walmart (USA) Senior Manager, Architecture in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Manages the development of facility shells by identifying and utilizing information about store and community needs; evaluating the results of cost-benefit analyses ; ensuring alignment with company strategy and objectives; collaborating, communicating, and coordinating with internal and external business areas; locating facility elements ; preparing block plans to evaluate multiple store layout options; and formulating grocery and general merchandise space.

Manages the development of solutions to store shell issues by analyzing and interpreting civil drawings; collaborating and communicating with other business areas ; and directing the creation of options for site restrictive stores.

Implements store shell plans by evaluating plans; communicating and coordinating with internal and external business areas regarding plan changes; incorporating changes into plans; and conducting correction of error process with stores.

Manages the design of prototype adaptation for new and existing store projects by overseeing the creation of conceptual designs; collaborating with project team in real estate, merchandising, store layout, operations, finance, and external consultants to establish project scope, budget and schedule; directing consultants on the adaptation of prototypical designs to conform to site or jurisdictional requirements; and resolving and communicating deviations from prototype to project team and leadership.

Manages the safety, security, and integrity of all stores and new store projects, special projects, and remodel projects by managing the adaptation, implementation, and communication of new store, special project, and remodel design guidelines and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local building codes, as well as applicable corporate compliance, food safety, and asset management requirements; supporting processes for the selection, review, and evaluation of qualified and reputable consultants; and using knowledge of best practices and codes to challenge design elements and mitigate risk to the company.

Manages the external architectural and engineering consultant base by supporting internal vetting and evaluation processes; contributing to consultant score-carding ; making consultant assignments in collaboration with leadership in the design and project management teams; and providing guidance to consultants who are out of compliance with respect to quality or fees.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance; accordingly, developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Additional Role Details -

  • Works closely with the Project Management team, Proto team and Architects to implement Walmart Branded stores while also meeting local jurisdictional requirements.

  • Supports Designs for the Project Management team to develop and lead multiple Retail/Commercial Development projects by anticipating and understanding current process and value gaps

  • Utilize multiple methodologies to leverage data in order to inform business decisions ensuring data accuracy and credibility; managing efforts to support sustainable best practices and complex, organization-wide projects

  • Works with local and state jurisdictions and has a comprehension in entitlement and permit review and approvals

  • Manages current and forecasted projects by developing, prioritizing, and coordinating project designs to meet milestone dates

  • Influences change processes by making data driven recommendations to support multiple projects

  • You will work with Architects and Engineers to create plans that are resourceful and accurate to deliver project intent on time and on budget

  • Someone with a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or holds a Project Management certification would thrive in this role

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
