Walmart Software Engineer III - Java Developer in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

At Walmart International, we are looking for a backend developer with experience building services using Java and Spring Boot to help maintain the existing mobile applications and to guide development of the next generation tools. The right individual for this role must be capable of building applications in Java, using modern architectures with hands on knowledge in backend Frameworks, and Cloud Based Technologies (Azure and DevOps).

About Team:

Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.

What you will do:

  • Backend Development: Develop robust server-side applications using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring high performance and scalability.

  • Database Management: Manage and interact with databases such as Cosmos, Azure SQL and Cassandra, including schema design, querying, and optimization.

  • API Development: Create, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs for seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.

  • Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code, and conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.

  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and resolve issues promptly.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and codebases.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical field.

  • Min 3-4 years of Hands on experience in Java 17, Spring boot and Microservice

  • You're experienced in computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure)

  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies (Cassandra/Cosmos)

  • Experience with TDD and writing robust Unit Test cases.

  • Exposure to CICD tools, including Git, Maven, Jenkins, Azure.

  • Able to break down a product goal into dev deliverables.

  • Experience maintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes

  • Experience with a containerization technology

  • Messaging services : Kafka

  • A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate and optimize systems and tools.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, Critical and Analytical thinking skills.

  • Aware of Agile (Scrum) methodologies

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
