Walmart eDiscovery Engineer II, Cybersecurity in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Provides support for legal discovery requests for the Walmart eDiscovery and Forensic Services Lab by collecting and culling electronically stored information across multiple operating systems and hardware using technical guide(s) and additional procedures; preparing data for delivery to outside counsel, Legal, and/or other stakeholders; documenting technical actions and processes to fulfill each request; and identifying and developing new methodologies and procedures.

Participates in lab responsibilities by receiving assignments from team leads and management; completing reviews of lab requests; holding team members accountable for compliance with standards through lab quality management program; achieving and/or maintaining certification through continuing education, training, and successful completion of proficiency tests; giving updates on progress of assignments to stakeholders; contributing in team meetings and discussions; and researching and documenting new technology information for the team.

Creates and maintains a knowledge base of documentation by completing assigned legal requests, performing digital device and evidence intake, and completing corresponding documentation (for example, chain of custody); documenting technical processes and procedures; writing technical notes in accordance with industry best practices; and writing report content appropriate for intended audiences.

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.

Provides support for the Walmart eDiscovery and Forensic Services Lab quality management system by offering ideas for process improvements; identifying policies, procedures, and practices that can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of laboratory operations; and completing assigned corrective and preventive actions as requested.

Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

Legal Acumen:

Requires knowledge of:

Legal rules and processes related to eDiscovery; Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; Chain of custody; Data custodian; Discovery processes in litigation; Admissible evidence; Litigation holds; Document responsiveness; Records management; Spoliation.

To understand key legal concepts related to eDiscovery. Apply legal perspectives when researching electronically stored information (ESI) (for example, hard drives, systems, databases, file sharing platforms, messaging platforms, social media, text messages, document collaboration and file- sharing platforms, third-party archives). Understand assigned roles in eDiscovery processes in order to collaborate with lawyers, paralegals, and legal analysts. Explain and apply basic legal concepts to the data extraction process in order to be able to determine what data and information is responsive.

Harvesting Electronically Stored Information (ESI):

To follow defined procedures to document ESI. Identifies established standards, policies, and practices involving ESI. Uses automated tools to capture, organize, and archive responsive information. Cite examples of different types of responsive information that need to be captured (for example, attachments, parent document, child document, emails, media, images). Fulfill routine information capture needs in assigned area. Report problems that arise in the data collection process. Review learning results to ensure the quality and accuracy of data gathering and analysis. Ensure compliance with the FRCP involving ESI.

Describe the organization's information management methodology and life cycle. Describe the basic concepts, tools, and facilities for managing corporate data as a critical resource.

Technical and Legal Documentation:

To use the major features, functions, and functionalities of automated documentation tools. Complete and maintain technical and legal reference documents. Coordinate and update team process and procedure documentation. Prepare eDiscovery responses according to required outlines and specifications. Assist in documenting evidence needed to defend the organization in a lawsuit.

Electronically Stored Information Process Audit:

To describe the major tasks and responsibilities needed to audit ESI processes, practices, and procedures, including those required to legal holds, custodial accounts, and deposition requests. Identifies the basic tools used to audit ESI.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area. Option 2: 2 years' experience in eDiscovery or related area at a Technology, retail, or data-driven company.
