Job Summary:

Provides current and engaging instruction and academic support services. This is an in person position. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through traditional, online, remote and hybrid formats, using course outlines approved by Curriculum Council. 2. Advises students and holds posted office hours. 3. Delivers supplemental instruction, as assigned. 4. In collaboration with departmental colleagues, designs/selects, and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at the course and program level. 5. Submits contract, grades, attendance reports, and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines. 6. Attends departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings. 7. Collaborates with academic administration in conducting program reviews and other institutional activities intended to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews. 8. Effectively integrates the use of instructional technology in instruction. 9. Remains current in the discipline taught as well as in current trends in teaching methodologies. 10. Participates in graduation exercises. 11. Contributes to decision-making in a productive manner. 12. Maintains the highest ethical standards in relationships with constituencies, research activities, and business dealings with and on behalf of the College, per College policy.

Job Specifications:

A minimum of a Master's degree in English or in a related discipline (such as Rhetoric, Literature, Technical Writing, Creative Writing, etc.) including 18 graduate hours in English. College-level English teaching experience highly preferred. Instructor must adhere to the Lake Michigan College curriculum and testing procedures for all appropriate courses. This is a 12-month contract with minimum course load 36 contact hours annually. Workload to be spread between Fall, Spring and Summer terms as assigned. OTHER HIGHLY DESIRED QUALITIES : Preferred candidates will have experience teaching English across a range of levels, from developmental to advanced, which could include composition, literature, creative writing, humanities, or co-requisite English, and working with diverse student populations. Desired qualifications include curriculum development, instructional technology proficiency, effective assessment design, and a commitment to diversity, open dialogue, and the mission of community colleges. 

Grade:

Salary Range: $40,000 - $51,000
