Location/Division Specific Information
The Binding Site VT specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep, and is part of a larger diagnostic company based in England. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for an Animal Lab Technician on our busy USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT!
Discover Impactful Work:
The full time Animal Lab Technician is responsible for providing high quality antisera, ensuring all procedural work is carried out/delivered in line with the company's supply and operation process. This includes production and any research and development and design control requirements, while adhering to the quality policy and other relevant regulatory and governing bodies and company policies.
A day in the Life:
Antisera processing
Collection of blood by plasmapheresis
Completion of relevant records
Antigen administration
Test bleeding
Weekly animal sorting for production activities
Care for and ensure the welfare of animals including but not limited to feeding, watering, bedding, and routine mucking
Keys to Success:
Education
- High school diploma
Experience
Working on a farm and/or with livestock
Working within a laboratory environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Valid drivers license required
Excellent communication and organization skills (written and verbal)
Able to communicate at all levels
Good analytical skills
Computer literacy
Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads
Must be able to work in a team environment
Excellent attention to detail
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Dependability, reliability, and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
Must be flexible due to the unpredictable nature of working with animals and on a farm
Lift up to 50 pounds +/-
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
Reaching, twisting, turning
Walk on uneven, wet, slippery surfaces
Must be willing to work weekends as scheduled
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Vermont is $16.10–$26.84.
