Midwest Goods Inc. Shipping Associate in Bensenville, Illinois

Location: Bensenville, IL

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Status: Full Time (Non-Exempt)

Compensation: $18 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Shipping Associate is responsible for filling customer orders and delivering them to the delivery platform in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, and productivity. The employee is responsible for picking, preparing, and packing products according to the order customer orders and Company Guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Observe and learn the work process and proactively ask questions to ensure the successful and timely execution of customer orders.

  • Pick items from inventory using a handheld device and organize them in picking bins until the order is complete.

  • Assists in large format picking of master cartons for order fulfillment. Removes or moves overstock in systems to maintain back stock accuracy.

  • Count and inspect products and verify quantities against customer orders.

  • Continuously walks from aisle to aisle during order fulfillment.

  • Review picked products through the workflow and report any discrepancies or damages to the corresponding team members.

  • Determine how the product will be packed according to the method of shipment or customer request.

  • Utilize systematic scanning to verify that the items picked and packed reflect that of customer orders.

  • Create Shipping Labels via systems and platforms based on package weights and dimensions.

  • Assists in verification and separation of packaged orders according to the corresponding ship methods.

  • Utilizes systems to scan, log and manifest packages prior to shipment.

  • Assists in the verification of over picked or incorrect items. Creates putback orders accordingly and relocated products back to their pick face locations.

  • Poly Strap, Wrap and Audit outbound shipments with provided systems to ensure shipping accuracy.

  • Loads outbound shipments utilizing manual and/or electric pallet jacks.

  • Reviews departmental assets and reports damages or discrepancies to department Management.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment where the noise level can be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fast-moving carts and employees throughout the warehouse. Every employee must respect others by not swearing or playing loud music that could disturb others.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, reaching up and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 60 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM or Tuesday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

A minimum of HS Diploma or GED and one year of factory or warehouse-related experience in shipping and receiving. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and have basic math skills. Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office experience are required. Must be able to use warehouse equipment such as ladders, cutting tools, etc.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree; a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Experience with inventory management systems and e-commerce platforms.
