Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 2 years of experience in program management.

• Experience translating engineering discussions into actionable engineering tasks and next steps.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with vendor management, contract negotiations, and measuring vendor performance.

• Experience with network planning and engineering, including long haul and metro networks, network availability, and resiliency analysis.

• Experience working in a network vendor or telecommunications carrier environment.

• Experience in, or knowledge of cloud networking, DWDM, fiber, interconnect, peering, IP network planning, or implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, carrier, or CDN, encompassing technical, commercial, and legal areas of the above.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multidisciplinary projects. You will plan requirements with customers and own projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. These projects often span multiple locations, time zones, and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's progress and deadlines. You will identify, scope, and manage projects that increase the value of Alphabet’s Enterprise Network and other networking products and services to our users and customers.

• Create multi-year metro or region level network strategies to provide resilient connectivity meeting technical, operational, and commercial requirements while balancing performance and cost.

• Evaluate alternatives and develop cost estimates for project-specific feasibility studies. Prepare drawings, maps, scopes of work, and other materials as needed to clearly describe projects to external vendors and internal stakeholders.

• Create and present business cases for long-term investments in network and infrastructure.

• Keep abreast of global industry best practices for end-to-end management of multi-functional technical projects and programs.

• Execute agreements for metro-ethernet, internet, dark fiber, and wavelength services under existing master agreements.
