Scope/Job Objective
The position reports into the Wabtec Logistics & Analytics (L&A) group and is specifically focused on the ongoing engineering, support and project delivery of the Track IQ portfolio of products.
With broad recognition as a leader in condition monitoring systems and associated technologies, Track IQ systems are installed on freight, heavy haul and passenger rail networks across 20+ countries and 6 continents. Our IoT systems use leading edge sensor technologies to acquire data from passing trains. Valuable insights on asset health are then extracted from the data using a combination of edge computing, signal processing, and artificial intelligence (AI) methods.

Duties and Responsibilities
Handle customer technical requests requiring in-depth data analysis, data science techniques, vibroacoustic expertise, or detailed system knowledge.
Prepare carefully considered customer facing responses to technical queries arising through projects and ongoing support agreements.
Lead technical discussions with potential and existing customers to extract user requirements and drive new product initiatives and product enhancements.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and fault resolution on our deployed systems requiring a detailed understanding of our data acquisition and processing pipelines.
Conceptualise, develop, test and implement new features in the data acquisition, processing and reporting software.
Work to improve automated system diagnostics and implement improved diagnostic reporting from our products.
Provide detailed engineering design reviews across mechanical, civil, electrical, electronic and software disciplines.
Define, develop and document system level test plans and procedures.
Contribute to the creation and upkeep of product documentation – design, engineering calculations, analysis and generating useful insights.
Provide oversight and critical review of system level design activities, including the integration of hardware, firmware, edge applications, front-end and back-end applications and databases.
Ensure compliance of our products at a system level to relevant local and international standards.
Help define, implement and drive our product roadmaps, and critically review the integration of new technologies into our product portfolio.
Work with the project management office to provide engineering inputs and manage the technical aspects of the company’s commercial projects.
Work with the service and support team to provide our customers with timely support and responses to their queries.
Work with the Business Development team to support activities related to tendering, including technical assessment of tenders, preparation of tender responses and supporting presentations, as required.
Help instil a culture throughout the Track IQ business in line with the Wabtec values of Safety, Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement, performance optimization, Teamwork and Leadership
Help establish, improve and maintain quality control processes, systems and documentation Support the Support Manager and Customer Managers to resolve customer issues / queries in a timely and professional manner Support Business Development Managers with technical inputs to tender responses and proposals
Support Product Managers with technical inputs to product road maps and new product initiatives
Ensure customer feedback and/or business opportunities are fed to Product Mangers , Customer Managers and Business Development Managers for follow-up
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must have:
Masters/ Bachelors in electromechanical /electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent proven industry experience in electromechanical engineering
12+ years of relevant industry experience and domain expertise
A detailed understanding of vibroacoustic phenomena
A strong data analytics and signal processing background
Broad multi-discipline engineering knowledge and expertise
Applicants will ideally have:
Experience working with electromechanical and software systems.
Experience working in the rail industry.
Experience in customer facing roles.

Negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Competency in the installation, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of software, electronic and mechanical systems.
Advanced skills in the MATLAB programming platform
Experience in system level design, including the design of data acquisition systems and the selection and integration of appropriate sensors.
Competency in the use of Microsoft Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of products
Ability to create formal documentation: e.g. information request responses, quotations, work instructions, product documentation
The ability to work under pressures of weekly, monthly and project deadlines.
The following skills are useful but may be developed during the natural course of work or in targeted training courses:
Competency in the following software and computing disciplines:
AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Altium CAD packages
SQL, Java, C, Python programming languages
Installation, configuration and maintenance of server systems
Technical knowledge of Track IQ systems architecture, functionality, output and data interpretation
