BASIC FUNCTIONS:

This position focuses on optimizing the software development lifecycle, build processes, and cloud infrastructure. The role involves designing and implementing efficient build pipelines, managing GitHub integrations, and working with AWS services. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and be willing to support development teams in improving their processes and infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with a focus on DevOps and cloud technologies

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience required

• Strong background in Java application development and build processes

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Extensive experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices

• Expertise in build pipeline optimization and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes

• Proficiency in Java development and build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle)

• Advanced knowledge of GitHub, including GitHub Actions and GitHub Workflows

• Experience implementing and managing quality gates in the development process

• Strong proficiency with AWS services, particularly EC2, OpenSearch (formerly Amazon Elasticsearch Service), and EKS

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)

• Understanding of infrastructure as code principles and tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools in cloud environments

• Understanding of security best practices in cloud and DevOps contexts

• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex systems and build processes

• Experience with code review processes and tools

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Design, implement, and optimize build pipelines for Java applications and other relevant technologies

• Manage and improve GitHub integrations, including setting up and maintaining GitHub Actions and Workflows

• Implement and maintain quality gates throughout the development process to ensure code quality and security

• Work closely with development teams to understand their needs and translate them into efficient DevOps solutions

• Set up and manage AWS services (EC2, OpenSearch, EKS) to support application development and deployment

• Troubleshoot issues in build processes, deployment pipelines, and cloud infrastructure

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall software development lifecycle

• Implement best practices for code management, testing, and deployment

• Provide support and guidance to development teams on DevOps practices and tools

• Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in DevOps and cloud computing

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development and operational processes

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members

• Document processes, configurations, and best practices for team reference

• All other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have a passion for optimizing development processes, a deep understanding of cloud technologies, and the ability to bridge the gap between development and operations. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
