Job Description

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Key responsibilities :

Architect, deploy, and manage large-scale Oracle database environments in cloud platforms (AWS, Oracle Cloud, Azure).

Design and implement database architectures that ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery for mission-critical databases.

Architect and implement cloud-based Oracle database solutions with a focus on automation, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.

Manage cloud-native Oracle services such as Oracle Autonomous Database, Oracle Exadata Cloud Service, and AWS RDS for Oracle, including automation of their setup and management.

Continuously monitor and optimize cloud-based Oracle databases for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability using cloud-native monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OCI Monitoring).

Automate routine DBA tasks including provisioning, patching, backups, and security updates to minimize manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.

Automate security and compliance checks for Oracle databases, including encryption, access control, and auditing.

Implement automated security patches and vulnerability remediation in cloud environments.

Ensure databases comply with industry standards, data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and organizational policies through automation.

Set up automated notifications and remediation processes for performance degradation, security breaches, or other incidents.

Create dashboards and reports to provide visibility into database health, performance, and cost efficiency.

Preferred Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer science and Engineering

Minimum of 12+ years of experience on working with Oracle Databases on large production database fleets, with a strong focus on automation and cloud database management.

Extensive experience working with Oracle databases in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud) with a focus on automation, provisioning, and management.

Expertise in Oracle database features including Oracle RAC, Backup and Recovery, Data Guard, and GoldenGate, with a focus on automating high availability and disaster recovery setups especially in enterprise database environments with Terabytes of data.

Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect).

Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying Oracle databases in cloud platforms.

Experience with Oracle Exadata and other high-performance Oracle database environments

Strong expertise in Oracle database management, including installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, Java and shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation purposes.

Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud) and their native database offerings (e.g., AWS RDS, Oracle Autonomous Database, Azure SQL Databases
