Department Description

The Oracle Public Sector Compliance and Regulation (OPAL PSR) - Performance Engineering Team works to analyze and optimize the performance of OPAL Fusion products in Oracle Cloud. We review business needs and approve proposed functional and technical designs to ensure that performance attributes are built into each application. We participate in improving development processes, performance guidelines and standard methodologies. We identify performance problems by profiling each component of the OPAL Fusion Architecture. We assist the Global Support team in resolving customer performance issues. We collaborate with various teams within the Oracle organization to resolve applications and RDBMS-related bugs. We conduct internal training on performance and coding techniques to the development and support teams.

Job Description

Senior-level Performance Engineer with a passion to improve the performance and quality of business software such as the OPAL Fusion applications in Oracle Cloud. Demonstrate your extensive implementation and design experience, Analyze quickly the performance behavior of an application on each tier of the Fusion Applications Architecture. Identify performance bottleneck in the application design and resolve software inefficiencies by subjecting the applications under different business load scenarios and using large volume of data. Conduct code profiling and memory profiling. Be able to explain why and how a performance problem could occur. Explain how applications performance bottlenecks can be avoided by configuring system environments in accordance with standard processes, tuning the database, program logic and SQL statements by using the latest software industries optimization techniques. Discuss tactical and strategic software solutions with development teams. Provide performance-related bug fixes to the customers. Using groundbreaking performance engineering methodologies, you will collaborate with product managers, developers, customers, and other performance engineers to conduct comprehensive end-to-end performance engineering of PSCR Fusion Applications

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

The responsibilities will include:

  • Design business and architecture solutions to incorporate optimal performance in the application.

  • Get along with internal and external customers to address product issues.

  • Analyze applications performance and resolve bottlenecks.

  • Explain why and how performance issues occur.

  • Provide both tactical and strategic solutions to performance issues.

  • Explain the pros and cons of different options that would resolve performance issues.

  • Collaborate with development on critical customer-related performance issues.

  • Gather and understand performance test needs, test cases and strategies.

  • Complete ownership and responsibility on installation, administration, data expansion and tuning the OPAL Fusion application environment.

  • Design and automate test scripts by using one of the following automation tools: Oracle Application Testing Suite, POSTMAN and implement performance tests for online and batch transactions.

  • Collect performance metrics and publish test results.

  • Produce performance reports and guidelines red paper.

  • Conduct technical training with development teams.

Skills

  • Proven Oracle database and SQL tuning of large, complex business critical applications (such as Payroll, Time & Labor, Recruiting, Financials, Banking, Manufacturing, HR, and Online Store).

  • Mastery in the following skills: database administration and tuning, program analysis and SQL tuning.

  • Mastery in performance testing, applications tuning and benchmarking concepts and methodologies

  • Experience with Cloud application or other similar ERP applications

  • Excellent abilities in documenting, producing performance reports and presenting those findings in front of highly skilled engineering and development teams.

  • Proven experience in understanding and gathering performance test cases and test plans

  • Experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Virtual machines and UNIX/Linux operating systems

  • Experience in creating test data, data volume expansion and backup and recovery

  • Experience in using load testing tools such as OATS, JMeter

  • Experience in performance testing of REST API using POSTMAN

  • Experience in performance metrics collection tools for Unix/Linux OS, third party software

  • Experience in WebLogic Application server administration/monitoring/trouble shooting/tuning

  • Experience in analyzing test results and troubleshooting the root causes of performance issues

  • Experience in performance profiling tools of Java code application

  • Experience in JVM GC tuning, memory issue tuning and heap dump analysis

  • Experience in front-end Web Page loading & rendering performance analysis

  • Experience in automating test process using Perl, Shell scripting, etc

  • Knowledge in SQL, PL/SQL, Java, HTML/Javascript, JET, JSON, XML, REST API programming

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a multifaceted environment

  • Ability to work well independently and in distributed team environment
