Would you like to contribute your ideas on how to smartly develop large-scale distributed Database-as-a-Service offerings for public and private clouds? Oracle’s Database Cloud Platform Development organization designs and develops the Database-as-a-Service platform that drives Oracle's Database, Engineered Systems, Oracle Public Cloud, Oracle PaaS and SaaS offerings. This team is a provider of public cloud database and infrastructure management software that operates at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their databases on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class and secure private and hybrid cloud database services.

The Oracle Database Cloud Platform team is directly responsible for delivering leading edge self-driving, self-patching, self-securing, and self-healing database for Oracle Cloud. These range from designing and developing:

  • The Service frameworks to host Oracle Database in OCI Public cloud

  • The Provisioning layer for Customers to create and perform life-cycle management of the Database in public cloud

  • The Monitoring systems which would detect any security or operational issues and rectify / alert operations

The Database on Public Cloud is a strategic platform, and the service features are designed to manage customer environments at a massive scale. This is a global team with locations in US, Oracle’s India Development Centre (IDC) Bangalore and Mexico Development Center (MDC).

Brief Posting Description : We are currently looking for highly motivated individuals with technical program management background to work in the Database Cloud Platform team. This person will manage and support development/operations of complex multi-scrum team projects through various SDLC stages including architecture, design, prototype, development, release and post production engagements for the Database on Cloud service releases. The position is open for our India location.

Qualifications and experience: B.Tech or M.Tech (Computer Sc. Or Equivalent)

A minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 3+ years in Cloud technologies managing complex cloud projects. Very strong experience in complete SDLC and cloud agile development practices for design, development and deployment of multi-team cloud services.

  • Familiarity with DB-as-a-Service (DBaaS) or similar (PaaS, IaaS)

  • Concepts of multi-tenancy, cloud and virtualization

  • Past experience with teams designing large, scalable systems for enterprise customers

  • Some programming experience with Java, PERL, Python or C

  • Understanding of REST architecture, programming and security practices

  • Knowledge of relational databases and administration - Oracle product knowledge preferred

  • Experience managing Cloud Service post production programs.

Responsibilities

Coordinate development of features and releases for Database on Public Cloud Platforms, which includes but may not be limited to the following:

  • For a target project feature set, work closely with product management, development management and team architects to manage the requirements and their scope

  • Plan, organize, and manage all phases of the project lifecycle ensuring successful delivery. This includes defining success criteria, developing and managing project governance plans, project schedules, team goals, communication strategies and project milestones.

  • Proactively identify and manage program risk, identifying paths to overcome risks, and escalating when necessary.

  • Work effectively and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

  • Use the JIRA agile processes to define the scope for the release, using epics and sprints work with the various leads, including managers and technical contributors to manage the design, functional and test specifications for the projects.

  • Track and manage the backlog on a timely basis for a release, meeting high quality and time goals.

  • Publish status via dashboards to provide high level status and tracking, identify any risks (including technical risks) and put in action plans to mitigate them quickly.

  • Run regular release meetings till handover to release management for project release to production including functional testing, performance testing etc. Continue to follow up with development for blockers/bugs.

  • Own and follow up on unblocking cross area development blockers and escalate to required senior team members as required.

  • Additional key IDC operations projects and initiatives needing program management.
