Oracle Principle Product Manager, Security Authorization Service in BENGALURU, India

Job Description

Are you a platform product manager with an interest in security and authorization systems? Join Oracle’s Technical Architecture group and help shape the future of the world‘s most important enterprise applications.

About Us

We're the Technical Architecture group, and we're defining Oracle's next generation application architecture. Our team creates shared services for data access, messaging, security, and more. Built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), our services provide the platform on which Fusion Applications will move into a cloud-native future, and we’re looking for a platform product manager to join our Security Authorization Service team.

About The Role

As a product manager for the Security Authorization Service, you'll work with a product management director and a distributed development team to design, test, deliver, and operate the Authorization components of the Oracle application platform. You’ll help to define the strategy and roadmap for this service, identify requirements and define new features, and drive adoption of the service through the Oracle Fusion applications portfolio. Your customers will be internal Oracle application development teams, both teams that are modernizing existing product architectures and teams that are building new products from scratch.

You’ll collaborate with teams across Oracle to ensure successful adoption of this new Authorization service and to guide teams in transitioning from existing legacy services to a new security architecture. You’ll evangelize design patterns and best practices and ensure that application teams understand how to model security considerations correctly using this new service.

What We’re Looking For

This is a technical role for someone passionate about platform development, not traditional application product management. Success in this role requires a combination of skills:

  • Five or more years of product management experience, at least half of it managing platforms and APIs.

  • A passion for solving complex problems, and a desire to dig into the details to understand why and how things work the way they do.

  • The ability to put yourself in the position of an Oracle developer and understand what they need from our services.

  • Strong communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • The confidence to ask questions and challenge both technical and business assumptions.

  • Experience delivering cloud-native software and APIs through the entire software development lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts including identity management, functional and data security, role-based and policy-based security, etc. is a plus.

If this sounds like you and if shaping the security architecture for Oracle's next generation of enterprise products sounds like fun to you, we want to hear from you.

Career Level - IC4

Responsibilities

You'll play a pivotal role in creating the strategic vision and ensuring the successful execution of the Authorization service, but you will also be part of a team delivering services that comprise an overall applications platform for Oracle.

You will work with your team to develop and prioritize the feature set and roadmap for this service and will evangelize it to Oracle application development teams, driving adoption as applications move to a cloud-native architecture.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Work with senior management, other product managers, and developers to shape the overall vision for cloud-native shared services and for the Authorization service in particular.

  • Work with application development teams across Oracle to understand their requirements, gaining expertise in Oracle applications and customer needs along the way.

  • Use what you learn to help develop a vision for the Authorization service, and to manage a product backlog that effectively balances short term needs with long term strategy.

  • Develop themes, epics, and stories to document functional requirements, performance requirements, operational requirements, and quality requirements for the service.

  • Work with agile development teams to develop, deliver, monitor, and continuously improve the service.

  • Collaborate with application development teams and other members of the Technical Architecture group to develop effective and innovative solutions to customer needs, and to ensure that applications are using our services in the most appropriate ways.

  • Document and explain recommended patterns, best practices, and anti-patterns.

  • Present your plans and your results to senior management and to other groups within Oracle.
