Google Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety AdSpam in Bengaluru, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in data analysis including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.

  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.

  • Experience collecting, managing, and synthesizing large data sets and information from disparate sources, statistical modeling, data mining, and data analysis.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills with effective attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated track record of problem-solving and a quantitative mindset, capable of translating analytical insights into business strategies and actions to achieve innovation, ƒstreamline processes and procedures, and reduce the error rate through ƒeducation/training.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The mission of the Trust and Safety Ad Traffic Quality team is to make the ads ecosystem universally trusted and defended against invalid Traffic. We analyze events and create scalable methods to stop motivated fraudsters from causing harm. When we get this right, we help users, advertisers, publishers, and Google gain information and monetize the internet safely and usefully. In this role, you will be trained to use tools that analyze datasets that are truly Google-scale, dive deep into advanced data analysis techniques we use to prevent fraud and abuse, collaborate closely on projects with Engineering, Product, Sales and Legal stakeholders and protect advertiser dollars.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to large complex data sets to analyze impact of abuse on the ads (video) ecosystem.

  • Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities, and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse. Work directly with Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to prevent abuse by changing policies and closing product loopholes.

  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to improve workflows via process improvements, automation, and anti-abuse system creation. Collaborate with, mentor, and provide guidance to global team members.

  • Conduct complex fraud investigations using data and identify gaps in current defenses, explore/experiment with new signals, and develop solutions for scalable enforcement on non-compliant publisher inventory with a focus on Android.

  • Be able to review or be exposed to sensitive content.
