Google Embedded Software Engineer, Pixel Watch System Software in Bengaluru, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)

  • Experience working with one or more of the following: mobile development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, networking, developing software systems, security software development, embedded systems development

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with embedded processors, Linux kernel, drivers, BSP

  • Experience working on commercial mobile products

  • Experience in performance analysis and optimization particularly in the domains of embedded systems

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, hardware bringup, power management, ARM processors, file systems, bootloaders, firmware, or hardware/software integration

As part of the first-party System Software team, you will work directly on the next generation of Pixel Watch devices, and will help build the system software that goes into all our devices. You will work across functions and product area boundaries, as well as with silicon vendors to support all aspects of the BSP/kernel/storage and the related product software stack to make sure we have ship products that users will want have. In addition to supporting integration across all product, we work closely with Product, UX, UXR, and other engineering teams to create great experiences for our users.

  • Develop software for the Pixel watch system software team, working on both next generation and legacy products.

  • Design, develop, and support for the Pixel watch system software, including contributing to BSP/kernel/storage, new board/IP bringup, thermal, charging, and working with siicon vendor teams.

  • Find solutions to unique problems faced while making a product worth launching.

  • Ensure focus on power/performance/battery life and overall software quality and stability.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to propose and drive new changes and features to WearOS/Android, as well as lighting up new features on Pixel Watches.
