Role and Department Overview
Corporate & Investment Banking (“CIB”) delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.
Wells Fargo’s Structured Products Group (“SPG”), part of the Markets division in CIB, provides direct structured lending in addition to the underwriting and distribution of asset-backed securities for clients who access the bond markets through securitizations. The India SPG team works as an extension of the global SPG team across a broad range of asset classes and covering large domestic and international clients including Corporates, NBFCs, Financial Institutions, Insurance, Mortgage and Real Estate finance, and investment funds.
The Mortgage Finance Group (“MFG”) provides financing and capital markets solutions to entities that own, originate, or service residential real estate loans and related securities. MFG is a seasoned group of lending, investment banking and securitization professionals.
CIB Portfolio Management Manager is a leadership role. The incumbent will be a team lead in India and will be accountable for partnering with the U.S. leadership including key MFG stakeholders as well as WFIP CIB/SPG leadership to own the strategy and delivery of the MFG team in India. The responsibilities will also include contributing to the credit reviews, financial analysis, risk & control, and other related banking activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to -
Manage and develop a team of individuals that provides portfolio management and underwriting support to an industry leading structured finance business within Wells Fargo.
Core team deliverables include support on surveillance, credit analysis and portfolio management across MFG’s portfolio. Key deliverables include portfolio surveillance, performance analysis, compliance/covenant testing, financial reviews, risk ratings, regulatory reporting including Basel, and drafting of memos and presentations.
Collaborate with the US and India leadership teams to identify, develop and implement strategies that will ensure an effective delivery and value-growth of the India MFG team.
Identify and recommend patterns or opportunities for overall industry or macroeconomic trends and how they may impact the overall portfolio and help timely management of risks.
Make decisions to ensure timely deliverables, resolve operating issues, effective work allocation, etc.
SME-level contribution is also needed to plan, train, mentor and review team’s deliverables.
The incumbent will be overall responsible for providing leadership and mentoring, performance feedback and building a strong, high performing team including hiring and retention of top talent.
Communicate effectively across all levels of organization to ensure alignment with company’s strategy and goals.
Interpret and develop policies and compliance requirements for timely managing any identified risks and opportunities; Ensure that all activities within the India team are conducted in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and ethical standards (including Risk, Compliance and HR policies).
Drive and implement various department wide risk & governance and transformation & automation initiatives on an ongoing basis.
Required Qualifications:
MBA Finance or equivalent. CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CA (Chartered Accountant) would be a plus.
Around 10-14 years of functional experience across asset classes in banking, credit analysis and underwriting, ratings analysis, portfolio management, debt research, corporate and structured finance. Experience in Structured products and familiarity with mortgage finance an added plus.
Demonstrated strategic thought leadership and exposure to senior management strategic presentations.
In-depth understanding of financial statements and accounting policies (IFRS/ GAAP etc.) of large corporates and/or financial institutions with ability to comprehend key risks.Strong management skills with ability to lead a team.
Demonstrated thought leadership in transformation and automation for enhanced efficiency a must; Change Management experience an added positive.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proven leadership and organizational skills, articulate in communication and strong business writing skills.
Required expertise in Powerpoint, Excel and Word. Familiarity in PowerBI capabilities and VBA/Macro/Python coding an added plus.
Motivated self-starter, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and ability to multitask across multiple competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Must be flexible to work in EMEA/partial US shift as per business requirements.
