GE Aerospace Advanced Lead Engineer – Ingestion Tools & Methods in Bengaluru, India

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient engineer to join our team at GE Aerospace, Bangalore. This role is focused on developing and maintaining engineering software and analysis methods to design aircraft engines and modules for safe operation under ingestion threats including hailstorm, ice, rain, ice crystal, sand, dust and bird. The role will support GE Aerospace business with improved multi-physics simulation capability for ingestion analysis, hardware design, certification and field event resolutions.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead development and validation of the ingestion tools, methods and models that represent the physics of the engine system or component

  • Lead capabilities advancement of the legacy analysis methods and tools by recognizing deficiencies in the models and incorporating empiricism and physics to improve and mature modeling technologies

  • Exercise engineering judgment and provide guidance for experimental data matching and validation of the methodology. Make recommendations after pre/post-test analysis of the data using quality tools.

  • Leverage external forums to understand state-of-the the art in the Ingestion domain, competitor capabilities and drive modeling technology advancements to address future needs

  • Establish modeling best practices, document in process templates and promotes consistency in modeling across programs using design practices and process templates

  • Present modeling results, validation and milestone status to relevant design boards, leadership, and technical experts.

  • Effectively communicates methodology and analysis results in technical reviews and to senior leadership as well as external customers

  • Partnering horizontally with systems and design teams to develop and drive adaptation of the ingestion tools and methods, share ideas, build business value models, and synergize development priorities based on business needs and budget.

  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the company.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD/Post Graduate degree from an accredited university with focus in ingestion, CFD and heat transfer

  • Minimum of five years of experience with industry in ingestion, CFD and heat transfer

  • Good understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, CFD, heat transfer and particle transport modeling & associated physics

  • Skilled in programming languages like Fortran, C/C++, Python and ability to write/debug basic code functionalities

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • CFD and thermal code development background

  • Strong familiarity with ANSYS CFX or FLUENT with experience in creating user defined functions

  • Familiarity with meshing tools like ICEMCFD, FLUENT MESHER.

  • Familiarity with FENSAP ICE and ANSYS Fluent for particle trajectory and icing analysis

  • Familiarity with ANSYS Workbench for Multiphysics Simulation (Mechanical, Thermal and Structural)

  • Flexible to adopt work as per business needs and priorities

  • Ability to collaborate and co-ordinate tasks involving global team members
