Deschutes Brewery Logistics Analyst in Bend, Oregon

The Logistics Analyst is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound freight for Deschutes Brewery, ensuring that Deschutes Brewery's supply chain operates efficiently, effectively and economically. This position is onsite, based out of Bend, OR.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a freight model that leverages our distribution and procurement volumes into best-in-class freight pricing, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Ensure that Deschutes' distributor partners receive competitively priced finished goods orders that have been optimized for timeliness and accuracy.

  • Manage and coordinate all Third-Party Logistics (3PL) relationships.

  • Work with Sales and Finance to update and maintain competitive laid-in (Product Pricing + Freight Cost) pricing model/options for our distributor partners.

  • Work with Procurement to ensure competitive in-bound freight pricing and be the primary point of contact for freight arrangements from conception through delivery.

  • Leverage ERP to manage Sales Orders, Warehouse Shipments, Sales Return Orders, and other operational reports to support the efficiency of the plant.

  • Troubleshoot all logistics issues including, but not limited to, distributor/supplier tasks, carrier information, truck ETA/ETD, production backlogs, damaged goods, etc.

  • Aid Distributor Coordinators (DCs) in pooling distributor orders together to create multi-drop loads.

  • Support keg return logistics and systems to ensure keg flow and inventory are operating well.

  • Communicate frequently and work closely with the warehouse team to coordinate outbound and inbound orders.

  • Provide exemplary customer service to all internal and external contacts.

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure freight options are adequately chosen to ensure materials and finished goods arrive in the best possible condition.

  • Perform comparative studies and submit recommendations for freight cost reduction opportunities based on findings.

  • Operate autonomously and be a problem solver without direction.

  • Must follow and adhere to all Deschutes Brewery company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics and 3-4 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain and/or Logistics OR any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge and skills in Purchasing, Supply Chain and/or Logistics have been achieved.

  • 2-3 years of experience with an ERP system, preference to Just Foods / Microsoft NAV.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft Office O365 and related tools.

  • Experience and understanding of logistics/freight models, laid-in pricing alternatives, and 3PL partnerships and contracts.

  • Organizational, communication (verbal, written, and presentation), and time-management skills.

  • Proven ability to multi-task, with comfort adapting to dynamic changes inherent in a manufacturing environment.

  • Collaborative and flexible in approaches, able to adapt to evolving processes, an innovative mindset to incent change for the betterment of the business and our partners.

    Preferred Qualifications and Educations:

  • Supply Chain Management Certification (ISM, ASCM/APICS or equivalent).
