Job Title: Environmental Scientist/Project ManagerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist/Project Manager to join our team. This role involves a blend of fieldwork during the construction seasons (spring through fall) and office work in Beloit during the winter months. You will be responsible for managing soil on IDOT construction projects and conducting hazardous material surveys of commercial and industrial real estate.

Responsibilities

• Manage soil on IDOT construction projects to evaluate contamination levels.

• Document findings and fill out reports using a company laptop.

• Coordinate with contractors and foremen on-site.

• Conduct hazardous material surveys, including asbestos, lead, and mold inspections.

• Supervise asbestos abatement and project management.

• Prepare asbestos abatement specifications, project designs, and O&M programs.

• Conduct air sampling professional services and mold assessments.

• Perform Phase 1 site assessments (ASTM standards).

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.

• Field experience in construction, soil sampling, or a related area.

• Ability to work 50-hour workweeks during summer and some nights/weekends.

• Strong attention to detail and quality through repetition.

• Comfortable communicating with site foremen and other stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with environmental science and remediation.

• Knowledge of IDOT and DOT regulations.

• Proficiency in using a PID for soil screening.

• Ability to work full-time in the Beloit office during winter months.

Work Environment

During the construction season, you will work out of your own or a company vehicle, driving to job sites and taking samples. Standard hours are 7am to 5pm, with occasional late night and weekend work. In the winter months, you will work from our office in Beloit, which features a comfortable environment with office cubicles. Projects are primarily located in and around the Chicago suburbs and within 100 miles of Beloit. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00
