Instructional Designer - Faculty Services and Academics

The salary placement upon hire will be based on the selected candidate's education and relevant work experience as outlined in the job announcement and the established salary schedule for the classification of the position to be filled. This position is contracted annually; contracts will be reevaluated at the end of the academic year.

SCOPE OF WORK

This position is responsible for implementing outreach, problem solving and developing instructional materials focused on students related to e-Learning platforms, in concert with advisors, academic staff, the Distance Learning Department, Dean, Site Coordinators, and Information Services. This position will be involved in physical and digital orientation, testing and any capacity where students require instruction on software such as Canvas, Zoom, Panopto and other tools.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

E-Learning

  1. Help assess accessibility and quality of student outreach in distance classes and online content.
  2. Help assess the quality of courses and instruction.
  3. Perform student outreach to ensure students have a positive e-Learning experience.
  4. Serve as liaison between students and faculty to communicate student concerns regarding e-Learning instruction.
  5. Hold regular workshops via video conferencing, both at the sites and at the Lummi main campus, to help promote student and advisor literacy with e-Learning pedagogy and platforms.
  6. Attend conferences including Instruction in conjunction with E-Learning Coordinator and other NWIC personnel.

     

Technology

  1. Assist in providing training in classroom technology when relevant to Distance Learning, i.e., ITV Videoconferencing and Zoom.
  2. Assist in transport of and training on Distance-Learning related material back and forth to extended sites.
  3. Travel twice per quarter, at minimum, to Lummi and extended sites for orientation, attend online orientations, and work with new students at orientation.
  4. Perform relevant administrative duties within Canvas.

     

Other

  1. Assist with the development of grants where appropriate.
  2. Assist with testing new students and developing NWIC assessment testing in a distance modality.
  3. Serve on the Technology Committee with E-Learning Coordinator and faculty.
  4. Attend advisor and Distance Learning department meetings.

     

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
