Matrix Service Field HSE Supervisor in Bellingham, Washington

DescriptionJob Summary The Field HSE Supervisor assists in the overall supervision and administration of project safety, accountability, accident and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Essential Functions Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values." Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management, supervisory, and client personnel. Assist in supervision and administration of health, safety, first aid, incident investigation, and case management. Assume total responsibility for health and safety operation for location assigned. Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety orientation training program. Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air-sampling tests for confined space entry, industrial hygiene monitoring, property damage, and personal injury investigations. Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions and activities. Issue confined space entry and "hot work" permits as required. Accompany safety, health and insurance inspections on walk through tours as required. Review Federal, State, and recognized Safety and industry standards and safety related journals, catalogues, etc. to keep abreast of changes or improvements in regulations, policy and protective safety systems, equipment, materials and gear. Assist in preparing written appeals for potential Federal / State safety violation citations. Reviews critical crane lifts and man-basket lifts as required. Develop a deep working relationship and partnership with Site Operations Leader, Business Unit HSE Manager, and client Safety personnel and management. Support and facilitate as required all onsite safety committees. Enter and track safety metrics and information, including incident investigations/corrective actions into Intelex, Matrix HSE database software system. Analyze safety data/trends and make improvement recommendations (create reports, charts, and presentations as necessary). Manage and mentor all HSE direct reports, with the emphasis on continuous improvement. Support and implement corporate HSE initiatives, as required. Daily standard under normal conditions for this position is 30% in the field and 70% in the office. Ensure site leadership and craft are trained and knowledgeable in their responsibilities under company and client policies. Responsible for working closely with our company leadership and operations to support our Maintenance Team of approximately 300+ (at any time) in Blaine, WA. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction. Qualifications Health and Safety Degree, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or equivalent, strongly preferred. 5+ years safety experience in construction or industrial fabrication facility or equivalent background, strongly preferred. Previous safety supervisory and/or management experience within Industrial Maintenance or Capital work, strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, client, and company safety regulations required. TWIC Card required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing with plant management and corporate executives. Ability to oversee multi-projects on one site. Previous experience with developing direct reports into high levels of responsibility within organization. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures essential.
