Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Senior Director of Software and Quality Engineering is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the software development and quality engineering practices within the Walmart Pharmacy division. This professional is responsible for leading and managing a team of software and quality engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring the successful delivery of software projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategy and Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Provide strategic direction and leadership to the software and quality engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services

  • Team Management and Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of software and quality engineers, ensuring their professional development, performance management, and career growth. Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation within the quality engineering function.

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, requirements, and timelines. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively address issues to ensure timely project completion. Drive alignment between quality engineering and other functions to ensure seamless integration of quality processes throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and expertise to the software engineering team. Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and industry trends. Evaluate and recommend new technologies or processes to improve software development efficiency and quality.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as product managers, business analysts, and executives, to understand their software needs and requirements. Communicate project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Quality Assurance Processes: Establish and manage quality assurance processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure effective testing and validation of products. Define and enforce quality standards, metrics, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in quality engineering efforts.

  • Quality Metrics and Reporting: Define, measure, and report on key quality metrics to track the effectiveness of quality engineering efforts. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders on quality performance, trends, and improvement opportunities.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the quality engineering function by identifying opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency gains. Foster innovation and stay updated with emerging quality engineering trends, technologies, and methodologies.

  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Collaborate with senior management to define and manage the software engineering budget. Identify resource needs, allocate resources effectively, and optimize resource utilization to meet project demands.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in software engineering, with a focus on software development and leadership roles.

  • Strong technical background, with expertise in software development methodologies, programming languages, and frameworks.

  • Strong quality background, with expertise leading organizations of mixed testing methodologies leveraging modern tools and frameworks.

  • Proven experience in managing and leading software engineering teams and quality engineering teams, including performance management and talent development.

  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering software projects on time and within budget.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, make informed decisions, and provide strategic guidance.

  • Familiarity with Agile or other iterative software development methodologies is preferred.

SUNNYVALE, California US-07003:The annual salary range for this position is $208,000.00-$416,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $160,000.00-$320,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
