Amazon Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, MHE Supplier Development in Bellevue, Washington

Worldwide Procurement secures the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) supplier technology, solutions, and capacity required to deliver highly automated FC technology road-map. This includes items such as; automated conveyor, packaging automation, robotic manipulation, package sortation, auto identification & quality products. Our team also directs the global MHE acquisition and supplier development for the global customer fulfillment (GCF), specialty fulfillment (GSF), and transportation (ATS) buildings. These solutions require continuous engineering development, emerging and disruptive technology innovations and long-term supplier partnerships to drive industry MHE assessment and technology advancements. We are filling a key role on our MHE Worldwide Supplier Development team.

Amazon is seeking an industry proven and detail orientated Senior Supplier Development (SD) Engineer to develop, assess, qualify, emerging technology within the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) industry supplier base. Successful candidates are natural self-starters and leaders who have an ability to lead large scale and high visible (impactful) projects in a cross-functional work stream. They should have prior experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, contract manufacturing, controls, and system supplier and/or technology sourcing both Technically and Commercially. Our SD Engineers must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans and solutions in response to very dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. A key component for this role is to be a good problem solver with an open mind, customer focus, innovation, empowerment, advanced technologies (IP), team first mindset, and individual drive to enable our Worldwide Supplier Development team to deliver the most advanced fulfillment solutions in the world.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with Worldwide and Regional key stakeholder from Design, Operations, Procurement, Safety, etc.. teams to develop, align and execute MHE qualification plans at equipment and integrator levels.

• Lead and execute top-tier strategic MHE qualification projects from start to finish (end-to-end). This includes "Business Case Definition" (justification) within the leadership teams of all key stakeholders.

• Apply industry techniques like, DOE, Lean 6-sigma, SPC, KPI, CTF, FMEA, RC/CA, CAPA, etc.. to validate.performance and use results (data) to provide recommendation on next steps within workgroup or up-level to Leadership Team (LT).

• Ability to interpret SPEC's and suppliers conformance to those spec's while identifying gaps and aligning gap closure plans.

• Lead MHE, Supplier and/or Integrator technology assessments while driving technology advancements. Example, define/align.

Chair/lead large cross functional WG of key stakeholders from Design, Operation, RME, QUALITY, WHS…

• Ensure solutions/systems… can scale and be standardized.

• Ability to assess and present Technical vs. Cost trade-offs risks at work group (WG) and/or C level.

• Define/Align MHE technolo.gy roadmaps internally and ensure supply base alignment to roadmaps.

• Customer 1st mindset.

Travel globally 30% as necessitated by business needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS Engineering, Mechatronics, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management or related discipline or 2+ years of Amazon experience

  • 5yrs+ supplier development / vendor management / strategic sourcing for custom-engineered solutions (vs. commodity parts, services, etc.)

  • Preferred design, project management, sourcing and/or contract mfg of multiple complex integrated automation (Mtl Handling Equipment / Emerging Technologies) experience; general guideline is $10M automation budgets  Design, Schedule, multiple

  • Experience in developing and managing contract and/or supply chain documents including RFPs, change order controls, metrics

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/Masters in Engineering

  • MBA preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
