Software Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Drive engineering effort, communicate cross-functionality, and be a subject matter expert.

  2. Perform technical software engineering duties and oversee a team of engineers.

  3. Utilize data driven decision making and evaluating designs and their complexities

  4. coordinate cross-functional efforts

  5. and help with recruiting.

  6. Manage the team that builds and maintains software infrastructure, systems and applications, and grow the team based on need.

  7. Translate business requirements using complex methods/models to determine appropriate system solutions.

  8. Evaluate existing infrastructure capacity, performance

  9. plan for future requirements, prepare proposals.

  10. Evaluate technology/ tools and identify prospective solutions.

  11. Work within a crossfunctional team to provide technical expertise in the design and planning of software system solutions.

  12. Provide impact analysis on infrastructure due to Projects/ Change Requests.

  13. Build solutions with Availability, Backup, Capacity planning, Performance, Redundancy, Reliability, Scalability, Supportability while prudently managing risks and costs.

  14. Participate to develop and manage ongoing operational needs of the backend distributed systems.

  15. Act as sounding board and as a consultant and leader to develop infrastructure solutions for operational simplicity.

  16. Promote organization process that maximizes organization's productivity.

  17. Lead and direct to prepare governing principles to guide decision making pertinent to infrastructure architecture.

  18. Develop and execute communication plus education plan for infrastructure architecture.

  19. Maximize the performance, uptime, and supportability of Meta's cache infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.

  2. Requirements Requires five years of experience in the following:

    1. Coding in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Javascript, Python, or PHP
    1. Relational databases and SQL
    1. Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
    1. Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services
    1. Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager
    1. Building products including front end technologies or backend systems
    1. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals
    1. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
    1. Large-scale Internet service architectures (load balancing, LAMP, or CDN's)
    1. Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
    1. Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams
    1. Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions.

Public Compensation:

$259,587/year to $290,180/year + bonus + equity + benefits
