We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and strategic Business Intelligence Engineer who will be comfortable diving into complex problems and using data to recommend business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus and perspective to drive strategy in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

This role will partner closely with the business and other technical stakeholders to understand the data-needs of the team and ensure that the business teams are able to answer hard questions with real data. This individual will participate in business reviews and new-initiatives. They should be able to identify and help close gaps in the information available, as well as predict up-and-coming data-needs when participating in discussions about new products or features.

Key job responsibilities:

• Owning the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing future looking analytical products, forecasting and prediction models, etc. to support the business needs.

• Translate basic business problem statements into analytical or data requirements.

• Use analytical and statistical rigor to answer business questions and drive business decisions.

• Use your expertise and knowledge of the business and its technologies to drive insightful discussions with customers and can anticipate and possibly influence their future requirements.

• Drive BI engineering best practices (e.g. Operational Excellence, code reviews, syntax and naming convention, metric definitions, alarms) and set standards for the team

• Make technical trade-offs for long term/short-term needs.

• Propose improvements to back-end data sources for increased accuracy and simplicity.

• Lead technical solutioning and design the AIR's speed and yield management analytics strategy

• Develop ways to measure customer experience and connect it to business outcomes

• Identify and recommend improvements to back-end data sources for increased accuracy and simplicity

• Drive BI engineering best practices (e.g. Operational Excellence, code reviews, syntax and naming convention, metric definitions, alarms) and set standards for the team

About the team

We are the Air Speed and Yield Management team within the North America Supply Chain and Analytics organization. Our team owns Speed and Revenue Management for NA AIR. We work closely with several other teams including Network Planning which manages flight schedules and network connectivity, Customer Data and Analytics , and Central Capacity and Labor Planning to optimize capacity and costs. Together we aim to maximize revenue and operational efficiency through collaboration, data analysis, automation, and innovation. Our goal is ensuring the right capacity at the right time to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of SQL experience

• Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

• Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

• Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

• Experience with AWS technologies

• 10+ years of professional or military experience

• Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

• Bachelor's Degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

• Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
