Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.
Our environment is global and complex with a variety of software and systems, including industrial machines and protocols. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery and receive of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying machine learning, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems. We are looking for a Controls System Engineer, capable of developing next-gen Industrial Control System platforms and automation solutions for AFT. This position will be exposed to the development of custom communications protocols, PLC optimization, diagnostics development and equipment design.
Key job responsibilities
You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment.
In this role, you will design and develop solutions involving robotics, data management and precision conveyance. You will participate in large-scale control engineering projects, supporting global deployments of equipment. This position will be filled with a candidate identified as a future leader, capable of driving AFT into the lead of Industrial Control Systems design and we are looking for candidates who are up to the task.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Inbound
AFT’s Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazon’s vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.
Basic Qualifications
Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Bachelors Degree in Automation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Proven experience in advanced motion control platforms (HMI, PLC, Motion, Safety) integrated design and programing
3+ years experience with motion control software (Rockwell, Rexroth, Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens)
Preferred Qualifications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
