Your role and responsibilities
As a Cloudability Solution Architect, you will act as a trusted advisor to Apptio’s customers, partners, and CS organization by recommending technical and operational strategies to solve our most complex customers’ challenges. You will leverage a strong technical background and business acumen to understand customer requirements and translate those requirements into functional and achievable solution design recommendations for the Apptio suite of products to drive meaningful value for each customer.

The Cloudability Solution Architect will be responsible for providing consultative guidance to our most strategic cloud customers to ensure successful adoption and expansion by developing and maintaining a high level of customer engagement. You will work cross functionally with other Implementation Consultants, Customer Success Managers, Technical Account Managers, and Account Managers to build the best overall technical architecture and solution for the benefit of our customers. As an Apptio technical subject matter expert, the Cloudability Solution Architect will be responsible for providing sound guidance & recommendations to drive adoption, best practices and a product adoption roadmap driving quantifiable value for our largest cloud customers.

What We Want You To Do
Work with customers to increase both usage and the ‘stickiness’ of the Apptio solutions
Perform design reviews and propose recommendations that balance business requirements with technical best practices
Support customers to integrate the Apptio solutions into their overall application landscape, supporting data and process integration topics
Gain domain knowledge across all Apptio solutions including Costing, Planning and Billing to support multi-application processes and requirements
Act as the primary technical liaison between Customer Success and Product Management representing the voice of the customer
Assist project teams in understanding Product Management and Engineering recommendations.
Carefully document product improvement ideas and their impact to our customers to drive emphasis on current customer needs in product development roadmaps.
Distill technical details into consumable concepts that can be explained to consultants and customers
Participate in technical escalations as necessary
Assist with root cause analysis when incidents arise
Train future generations of architects
This person can be located anywhere in the US.
Required technical and professional expertise
Basic Skills:
Client-focused attitude and ability to be a customer advocate
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and curious
Expert skills in data analysis/manipulation; versed in formulaic logic (e.g. Excel)
Ability to prioritize among competing high-priority demands
Self-starter - able to come up to speed on complex, difficult concepts with minimal assistance
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to less technical audiences, both internal and external and at the executive level
Team player with solid communication and presentation skills
High-level knowledge of enterprise IT organizational, business, and technical environments
Experience & Education:
5+ years of solid experience in a senior support, consulting, or engineering role for medium to large scale business software company
Degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, finance or equivalent
3+ years of demonstrated skills working with the Cloud Cost Management products
Cloud Certified Practitioner (Cloud Architect preferred) and experience of at least two of the following public cloud providers - Google, AWS, Microsoft Azure or OCI.
FinOps Practitioner certified with practical experience
Preferred technical and professional experience
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated client relationship and interpersonal skills
Consulting experience in enterprise systems implementations
Demonstrated experience with packaged application software implementation
A proven track record of meeting with senior management and executives as the subject matter expert
