Azure Database for PostgreSQL (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/postgresql) is a database service based on PostgreSQL technology, the most popular open-source DB tech in the world. Responsibilities

  • Product and Service Design:

  • Builds the right products and services to deliver intended value to the customer and to meet the required business objectives. Makes decisions deeply rooted in customer insights (data-driven) and in understanding overall business goals.

  • Technical Design and Implementation:

  • Develops high-quality code to meet technical requirements, such as scale, global delivery, and implementation across distributed systems, monitoring, serviceability, testability, debugging and maintenance. Builds the associated tests to validate the code both at the unit level and end-to-end level.

  • Quality Code and Validation:

  • Creates and validates efficient (low-latency, high-throughput), stable, secure, maintainable, performant, well-tested, and reusable code that enables customer and business goals for the product or service. Builds the correct tests and tools to validate that the code meets quality goals or service. Ensures that quality is maintained throughout the entire life of the product or service.

  • Engineering Lifecycle:

  • Uses, defines, and improves coding and testing practices, processes, tools, infrastructure, and standards that produce the expected product or service outcomes for Microsoft and the customers.

  • Effective Team:

  • Acts constructively within the team context to increase the efficiency, impact, and morale of the team, as a whole. Works proactively across team, product, service, or platform boundaries to share information and technology, and ensure that peer-team goals are aligned. Mentors others and proactively seeks mentorship from others.

  • Product and Service Ownership:

  • Consistently and strongly demonstrates a sense of personal accountability for the quality and completeness of the entire product or service and resulting user experience. Maintains a sense of pride and craftsmanship that in the products that we ship.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline and extensive software design and full stack development experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience leading an engineering team.

  • Solid experience driving architecture/design/implementation and delivery of great user experiences.

  • In-depth experience with developing and maintaining cloud-scale applications and live services.

  • Excellent communication and cross team collaboration skill

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of software engineering principles, with experience developing, architecting, and driving features and experiences for large-scale services or user-facing applications

  • Strong experience with cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/GCP)

  • Experience with Linux and containers
