Team/Role Overview

This is an opportunity at a junior level, to join a growing, busy legal team, specifically supporting Citi’s commodities business. We work closely with stakeholders to negotiate legal agreements with clients, which then allows Citi to trade commodities products with those clients. This role offers an exciting challenge, with a lot of opportunities to learn and grow, in a supportive environment. This is a developing professional role that applies specialty area knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analysing and/or evaluating processes and data. You will identify policy gaps and formulate policies, interpret data, and make recommendations. You need to research and interpret factual information to identify inconsistencies in data or results, define business issues and formulate recommendations on policies, procedures or practices. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area is essential.

What you’ll do

  • Perform legal support related to legal operations, technology, budget/expenses, risk/controls, litigation/discovery/settlements, or administration.

  • Provide varied work requests from multiple sources that may be complex in character and have tight deadlines.

  • Be responsible for tasks associated with a program or projects.

  • Liaise with other control and functional business in support of projects and initiatives.

  • Assist in billing or legal settlements.

  • Work closely with the team’s manager to complete tasks assigned.

  • Manage calendar, schedules, finalizing reports and presentations.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.

  • Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy.

What we’ll need from you

  • Relevant experience working in corporate legal department, law firm, financial services, consulting, technology firm or related industry.

  • Must have effective organizational skills, attention to detail, exceptional verbal communication and listening skills.

  • Knowledge of legal customs and practices.

  • Project management skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry.

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
